Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
a concept model for buildable/researchable frigate upgrades, improved battle plating mixed with improved engine cooling.
Excellent!!!! Loving the upgrades!!
Improved engine cooling means...increased speed?
Yeah. We didn't want engine upgrades to just mean extra engine nozzles or a bigger engine section. This basically just means the reactor can run hotter and pump more plasma through the engines.
If you're making reactor upgrades, you could also have an upgrade that reroutes additional power to the MAC, thereby decreasing the amount of time needed to charge up between shots. I've always wondered why the UNSC didn't do that...
There's going to be MAC upgrades, yeah. Though it'll probably be more along the line of energy recycling/more efficient capacitors, something that'll be visually specific to the MAC.
As far as I know, you can't edit weapon files with a sub-system.
Makes the frigate look even better than your original! how is this possible (Head explodes)
Basically you'll unlock them by researching a broad sort of internal hull upgrade first, then either build the subsystem or the research will add it automatically(depending on what we can do!)
In this way, you'll know what sort of upgrade path your enemies are taking, and will get a chance to counter it.
okay so you can a make your weapons ten times better or be make your armour ten times better hmm beter to do both and lets destroy our enemy's
Well, we're aiming for research to be more integral and for you to put more thought into it than just "grab everything eventually" - Honestly, i think the way that the game currently plays, armour upgrades will be more valuable at the start of the game to bump a frigate up from only taking 2 hits from a MAC to barely being able to survive it, allowing it to fire it's own MAC rather than instantly being taken out by a destroyer.
