I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!
Just a production painting, mixing photo and painting for quick reference. Maybe I'll finish this, but it's actually doing what it was made for already: give an impression.
Although its still incomplete, I can see this coming together quite nicely.
Very well done. Great job on the foreground and background. I love the fence....
Thanks mates! I feel I should bring some more contrast, if only color contrast, into the painting. However, I'm always looking forward to the next painting. I'll have to learn to separate my layers better, so I can make adjustments to them on the fly.
Yes, I separate layers for just about everything in a drawing. Otherwise I wish I had in the first place. Its the best way to create masks and repair areas.
I mostly do websites, but I initially create the graphics in photoshop. So using layers allows flexibility and revisions. I even duplicate layers to test some effects instead of undoing it. I don't have the Full version of Photoshop so I don't have real-time effects.
What are real time effects in PS? I'd really like to know what you mean by that.
as in you can add effects like emboss, drop shadows, gradients, etc and you can turn them on/off at any time. So they are not permanent in any way and are only associated with the psd file.
In Photoshop Elements you can add limited drop shadows, embosses and effects, but you have to UNDO to go back to the original image. That is why I duplicate layer so I don't have to keep undo-ing.
I would rather use Full Photoshop instead.... some day
A layer effects. I only use them for the contour which I put around most of my paintings (If I don't forget it, like here)
Real men don't paint with more then one layer ;D
I find the only reason I make separate layers are if I know I'll want to adjust something later, or for overlapping objects that I'd like to mess with at the end. Especially if I plan on projecting it layers are a must.
I love the house, but the concrete base of thebuilding on the right I at first thought was water. Possibly a bit of shadow or a hard corner could help separate the concrete from the ground below it.
in real life its true. you only have one canvas (no layers) and you have to paint over your mistakes (no undo).
You got to admit, photoshop is definitely more forgiving.
