I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!

yet another great rendering! It looks more purple than gray, but I really like it. I even like the "bloom" effect you are using on the lights.

Thanks man! Since this is entirely painted in values and I put a solid color layer on top of it I can change the color to anything I want. This purple mood was really a quick decision. In fact this was one of my faster paintings and took less than two hours to complete.

the ability to change colors on-the-fly is pretty cool. Faster or not faster, its really good and very detailed.
Do you use "Shift" alot to keep your lines straight?

In this one yeah, I did use shift a lot. Usually I avoid it, because lines tend to become to stale and color too monotonous if you paint like that. Generally, I see a difference now between drawing and painting. Drawing is about contrast and often about showing expression though line-style. Painting is about color contrast and shape. If I paint I try to get rid of lines to avoid slipping into drawing motion.

I find drawing is heavily based on shape and form as well actually. Line of action, line weights, tones/contrast, and more area all important for a good drawing.

Once you lose reliance on the line and begin to exclusively paint, getting shapes is more important then anything, and with a little contrast, our minds can figure the rest out with far less work.

I'm sure you've heard of the great GoodBrush? If not I can direct you to some of his finest works!

Actually I was beginning to paint in lights but then my always present drive to paint let me down. I'm just keeping it like this for now.
