I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!
The Paradises are places for the better off in Athena Mod. I'm not sure if they have Star Wars like flying jets there, but it would have felt odd to put a Bell Helicopter in foreground. I created some color contrast (again blue/orange) in the picture and tried to lead the eye towards the big tower. I think I did a fairly good job on this one. Maybe I should fix Saturation, but this oversaturated look has something alien and yet tantalizing about it. Maybe I should add some cliché planets and pretend it's not Earth anyway.
Nice work man. Really impressive. Hope neahc can map that excecllty like this :D
your artwork is amazing! I'm curious if you do any tracing over photos or is all this freehand?
Looks very nice, it seems very special.
The reason for my comment is that a friend of my father has a picture very similar to this one.
I'm not always sure what you mean by tracing booman. I used a photo and masked the pier part out of it, I don't draw in any additional helping lines, because I often find myself following perspective lines too rigdly, destroying the organic impression I want to achieve.
It could very well be that similar pictures are found in artbooks, or on people's walls. I'm a big fan of Dylan Cole, who I've learned some tricks from through tutorials. Thanks for your comments. Glad you like it!
you answered my question just fine. I was thinking either you used a photo or traced a photo in photoshop with a tablet. thanks
Me . Wants . Map . This . Awesome
Your recent concepts are great Sinking. This one really makes me hope your modelers can display them accurately.
Thanks! It's the mappers though, the modelers have little to nothing to do with this job.
Concept Art is just a supportive function to help inspire the mappers in their work and give them a clear idea of their goals for the map. There is so little detail in my paintings to date that I can only hope the mappers do a far better job than I. They certainly have a hard job - I wouldn't want to detail my concepts down to every nut and bolt.
