CRPG is the best persistent character multiplayer mod, in which you can level characters.
Full Invasion 2 is the best pick up and play multiplayer mod, surviving swarms of enemies.
Single Player mods: there are too many to count. Gekokujo is an excellent Samurai adaptation, there are also good lord of the rings and game of thrones mods.
