One thing that we do in Continuum is have the debris spawn as an FX, then have them fade. You could set this to last for any amount of time, but gradually disappearing debris would help CPU resources
One thing you might do is use a LOD without the inner blue layer, that could effectively get rid of the clipping effect.
I'm not sure if the camera distance is calculated from the 0,0,0 coordinate of the HOD though
We have this bug corrected and it wont be an issue in the new release

Everyone likes to customise their ships, in the Star Trek Continuum mod we have varying degrees of colouration. The Fed ships only have little stripes on them whereas the Klingons and Romulans have heaps more.
I'm sure you will be able to find an appropriate balance too :)

To fit it into TMP it will be an experimental "prototype" in a similar fashion to the D'Talla Warbird.
We're going to put it forward as the first Federation ship with collimated phaser arrays instead of the double ball turrets like on the rest of the TMP ships.
I hope that one day you feel that the Free Mod 1st person script is good enough to release for other mods to use.
I know that I would love trying to do a mission in Continuum that used the script :)

Indeed they are, they first appeared on the Saratoga in the 1st episode of DS9. They're a treat in-game and use the golden TNG phaser FX and sound. :)

Are you swapping meshes with an animated joint in the HOD? We use an animated joint for the shields, to move the collision mesh away when the ship's health reaches 25% :D

Make sure you have a separate sound file described in the LUA, the game will crash if you don't. I had a lot of fun figuring that out for ST:C, it's also why our intro uses the sierra sounds :P

Regarding the IKS Negh'Var, we have used the information available at Memory Alpha in deciding it, the stories in the Star Trek books are not going to be referenced in our mod unless there is a big enough chunk missing from the "canon". Thanks for the input though :)

If you've simply redone the planets exactly the way I did then your maps are going to look far too similar to the ST:C mod's to be memorable, I encourage you to at least redo the maps in your own style so you get your own feel for your mod.

It doesn't matter if you can't get ROTTool to work, the game will still process TGA files for ship icons, unless you're using the default Hiigaran or Vagyr ship names, then the ROT precedes the TGA. If that makes sense~
If you put dx8vb.dll in the same folder as the ROTTool.exe then it should work, that or when registering the DLL make sure cmd.exe has been run with admin rights on...

Is that a fruity computer I see there?
What I mean is to have each of the different yards as subsystems, you can place their hardpoints wherever, and you can have exit paths from where the subsystem will be at. Having the subsystem as a requirement for the ships will negate the risk of the ships poofing into existence so visibly.
That will also mean you only build from the one station, it would centralise things. If you have your concept done up in the release you're planning later this year i'll have a play with it and show you what I mean if you like.
Does the barrel spin? Is it too small on the ship to matter? :P
You know, you can have the "one shot movement" yards set up so they appear where you would want them, you wouldn't have to position them.
You don't need to put a subsystem hardpoint on the actual model ;)

It's difficult to translate some languages, I speak English and Chinese and I've tried to help with translating. Chinese has alot of four character combinations that relate to one story or other and that then has the moral of what's wanted to be said. That's very difficult for the native Chinese speaker to express in normal English and almost impossible for the native English speaker to filter into the two or three words a description needs!
Then there's labels like in the award system above which aren't so hard~

Far too fast for an unsheilded ship without any sort of energy weapon!

The two things that annoy me most in 1.3 are:
1. some ships flare up white when you get too close; and
2. ships don't fire automagically, you have to manually do everything
other than that I've enjoyed playing thouroughly!

I've had a few aftermath's like this, one really good time I managed to immobilise a Heavy Basestar in the ruins of it's companions (and my ships :( ) and send in dozens of Vultures and missile equipped Raptors to finish it off :D

This is actually really good, I always wondered why all the ships coming randomly from every direction in Star Trek, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica and so on all happened to be up the same way whenever they so happened to meet.
This physics set emulates actual physics more closely, although for aesthetics the ships should return to the same orientation when there's no dipping and diving going on :-P

I like it all except for the words "Bussard Ramjet".
A Bussard Ramscoop would collect interstellar hydrogen for use as fuel with some description of electromagnetic field, or it could skim the top layers of atmosphere from a likely planet for the same use. It has appeared in Sci-Fi installed in the tips of Star Trek's Starfleet ships warp nacells (the red bits at the front usually). You can see on in action in the movie "Insurrection".
A Ramjet is the currently experimental replacement for contempory jet engines used in commercial and military aircraft. I think they've had one or two successful test firings total. It requires an atmosphere to function.

2. some smaller ships (cylon resourcer, scarlet viper, armistace station) don't display a texture (they're all black, may be related to shader 2.0 which is the version I got last time)

The Dominion should have the bugs, the destroyer, the Breen destroyer and the big-muther battleship. I think there might have been more but the Sona weren't involved with the Dominion, at least not on screen~

My two cents for the campaign, go to some sort of trek timeline website and pick a major occurance for each of the centuries. For example:
ENT = 2100's, the Romulan War
TOS = 2200's, the Klingon Cold War
TNG to VOY = late 2300's, the Dominion War, Borg Incursions, etc

I didn't know about decompiling... how would one go about doing that? and I do use notepad... I've use notepad for basic scripting since Armada's *.ODF files... I assumed you had a special program because the "LUA script file" pictured doesn't have the notepad icon :P

I like the idea of a "great cannon" (as the bentusi put it) on the UNCG battleship, but I would make the following reccomendations:
1. If you keep the existing model for the emitter, make the beam straight and taper the back end of the cannon please!
2. If you would like a more interesting turret with a greater firing arc or even charge-up animations then your proven talents will help you there too!

Hey guys! Downloaded and is working great!
I just have three things you might be interested in to tell you:
1. Battlestar Atlantia, LHS (port?) cannon underneath the hanger is seperated from the hull a little bit
2. Cylon resource collectors
2a - completely black, missing texture?
2b - stalls the game by going for debris and then not being able to collect said debris for resources.
just those things~ Looking forward to 0.4.6 ^_^

My condolences for your loss, I haven't been unfortunate enough to lose a parent (my dad left though, but it happened when I was 3... so no devestation registered really...), but I can imagine how you'd feel and i'm right there with you saying that "QuamieMasterT" needs his excuse for a head examined.

I tried skinning once. I was trying to remove a shark mouth from the bow of a starship. I deleted the mouth and replaced the area with "hull" colour. I fired up the model viewer and the bastard was still there... grinning at me...
So yeah, love to help, but logic likes playing games with me...
is that the electric/plasma/phaser type gun that you could almost never find ammo for in HL1 and Co? It vaguely resembles it, or it could be construed as an updated version~

make sure you open "cmd.exe" as an administrator, and before it will work the little directory should be "C:\windows\system32>"
from that you can just copy, paste and click enter
It took me a while to remember how to change the directory to system32 but i got there before i lost patience with the damned thing and much to my satisfaction the guide above is true to its word! I'm playing HW2 mods on vista! yay!
I'm definitely going to try this as homeworld 2 mods require the 1.1 update and my vista never seemed to like homeworld 2 after it was updated...
I'll report back later on how it goes! Most probably tomorrow.

I think that in the end you guys are making the sensible decision.
You've come this far but want to move on, but you're doing the right thing by the fans and pulling together what you can by a time limit your whole team agreed upon. Alot of MODs go a long way and fall down just before the finishing line, I just want to thank you guys for taking the extra effort and making sure that at the end of the day all the word you've done will be enjoyed by the masses!

Just a quick Q though, is Homeworld 2 with the 1.1 patch still required? My copy of vista doesn't like homeworld 2 after I apply the 1.1 patch for whatever bizzare and inexplicable reason...
