A couple more ideas:
THWACK! - This perk requires 20 points to unlock. This allows you to get a nice big melee weapon on a round start, and a 15/20% increase in melee damage, but this big 'ol beating stick isn't sharing your iventory space, so it'll replace your main weapon.
Mr Nerd: costs 35 points. When you activate a technology-based objective, such as a radio, the objective becomes slightly easier, and you can use keypads, which could activate traps or close breakable doors etc etc.
