Yup another small update. This time I tried to give the Kar98 a better skin texture. I'm pretty happy with the new look and hope you guys may find it just as apealing.

The problem with your texture is the lack of highlights and specular to give a more realistic look especially the metal parts looks nothing like metal.
Give it a specular texture and up the brightness on the metal parts but don't over do it.

Thanks mate, but I already know how to apply specular maps. It's already even applied to it. I wasn't happy with that part myself actually and forgot to mention I was probably gonna add some more to it. I hate when specs are being overdone t hats why it's barely noticeable.

Ahh, I'm not trying to replicate the weapon one hundred percent. It was a really tough model to texture for me. But I'm glad you like it anyway.
A great model. But I think the left hand should be fully stick to the gun (I mean- close that hole between the left hand and the gun).

looks awesome. What weapon is the kar98k going to replace out of the HL2 original weapons? or have you got some other plan for them?
Thanks. Well, it wasn't a replacement gun actually. I gues the closest it comes to replace is the crossbow. But it wont be a one hit kill, although it'll pack a punch.
I was going for a sort of sniper rifle that didn't have a scope attached to it. yeah the story behind the weapon is probably somewhat far fetched, but ah, it's a game and I couldn't resist. Just wait till the mod's released, you'll find out.
