I am the founder of DBolical and creator of ModDB, IndieDB and SlideDB. My aim is to make it easier for gamers to find great games/mods no matter their stage of development. And more importantly give game/mod developers a place to share their work and grow their fanbase - without being dependent on press/editors gatekeeping the important news sites. If you have any ideas or suggestions, hit me up I am always available to talk with the community.

Agreed - committed developers like you are the ones who deserve EA, but right now it's attracting the wrong kind of people.

The majority of commenters here say EA games should be cheaper. I disagree with that, I think they can be priced at whatever level they want. I think the problem is the sheer volume of EA games, the majority of whom are clearly never going to reach the promises their developers make, which are crowding out the deserving developers like yourself

I agree with the point above to a certain extent. I mean a mod is built off a complete game, so the base is already there and technically speaking the mod should improve this base. Having said this making a total conversion means you essentially have to wipe the slate clean and start from scratch. Sure all the physics are in place - but its a hell of a lot of work and I'm not certain the comparision should be made.

All in all my response was no, but I still think there is reason to compare mods with games, at least on an informational level.

Mods can do (AND SHOULD DO) what game companies cannot and that is be adventurous, creative and take risks because you have no financial goals / investors demanding results.

i'm really undecided. It is a shame to see such great work go down the drain sometimes. The problem is the minute it becomes public property it will just be exploited, and used everywhere it can.

Is this a bad thing? Well not necessarily as long as the original author is credited. I mean after all, nearly every mod reuses tons of stuff the game developers have originally created such as textures, models, maps, sounds etc.

Major Changes in V2.0

- New site design (much cleaner / easier to understand)
- Ability to support multiple languages
- Templatable (so design of the site can be changed easily)
- Mod listing will be cleaned out
- Mod profiles design will change so they are easier to follow
- Ability to show news / mods from only the games you are interested in

There is tons more planned changes (about 200 in total, some noticable others hidden) but basically they will make this site alot more powerful and even more enjoyable to browse for the gamer and modders alike

My only complaint would be a multiplayer aspect would rock. I mean that is the one area really unventured in the RE gaming scene so it would be wikkid for a change. And since you are building this mod on an engine that is primarily multiplayer it cannot be too tough can it :P
