Well they are different games, and ARMA 2 has a free 2 play version, and a paid version for 19.99 (which is 50% off at the moment).

Free2Play is awesome, full multiplayer, addons etc. just lower detail and no mods:

It is a very controversial question this one, good topic feillyne!

I kinda felt like agreeing to virtually all of the options. it's bad but if it helps then its good, but should they just make an indie game?

Mods however have always been free (with a few exceptions) and that is how I believe they should remain.

Bah our upload system is better than Youtubes. Just make sure you attempt to upload the original high quality video before reverting to Youtube. As youtube reencodes the videos and they do loose a bit of definition, even when in HD mode.

What pop up stuff? There shouldn't be any of that.

INtense! Aug 10 2011, 10:47am replied:

That will never happen. Ads can be worthwhile if done right, the minute you overdo them they go from been valuable to downright annoying. We only want quality not quantity. On mod profiles we typically only run one ad on the sidebar, sometimes two.

Oh and as a member we instantly show you less ads, our thanks for participating in the community. No ads if you use Desura.

Well ModDB / IndieDB / Desura are all linked so it isn't *super* easy to do. Best way is to browse the game profile mods section, to view only mods for that game...

it is exactly as protektor said below. first we work with native games, then we consider wine games, then we consider things like mods and other content.

rest assured we shall be supporting many of the free and awesome linux games, Warsow for example:

INtense! Jul 6 2011, 1:49am replied:

Absolutely, just getting a game to release is an amazing achievement and the complexity of todays games does make them hard to mod. So I can understand that in-house they probably have tools that are not designed to be used externally (optimized, pretty etc) and making them accessible to modders would be costly and challenging.

But with such a legacy blazed by past BF games (and their mods), it is a shame to see mods totally dismissed. Crytek for example is taking a while, but they are slowly bringing their tools to modders and indie developers. I don't think it is fair however to "bash EA / Dice" as I believe this decision is based much more than on them trying to monetize DLC and if they had unlimited time / resources mod tools would be made.

It is only for the last few minutes, but very handy for tracking an explosion of visitors. For example we ran a witcher competition a month ago, but last week it just exploded in popularity. If you goto the stats log:

You can see that the competition was mentioned on the official witcher blog, hence the visitors.

Just to clarify, I spoke with Potteh and decided that removing that post and his access to the site was the best course of action.

He will be developing his future games / mods via other sites and will not be returning here.

So lets put this issue to bed, no more posts!
