Can someone help me...I'm playing as ECA on 8 player custom map...late game my units will not move...they move a brief distance and stop...it is very frustrating and I can't figure it out. Any advice?

What's with the ECA..I'm playing 4 vs. 4 with a lot of lag in the late stages..my ground units when ordered to move will move then stop..I order them to move..they move a short distance and stop..what's the problem here?

I thought the A.I. didn't use the thermobaric mixtures upgrade because it tends to cause too much damage to it's own units and buildings.

I hope you make the change. The attack powers create an imbalance with the AI. Will there be any changes to resource gathering/economy...have a hard time with U.S. because of aggressive A.I. gathering...even when the supplies are gone. They tend to choke each other off..late game economy not that great either.

I was wondering if certain issues in 007 will be corrected in 008? I've mentioned that the USA faction has a problem with the AI aggressively building supply centers and they choke each other off. The GLA (and China) to a lesser degree aren't aggressive enough in gathering supplies, but China makes up for it by usually training plenty of hackers. I think the values on the supply drop zones, hackers, and black markets don't generate enough in the later stages of the game when the supplies are gone without plenty of tech buildings.

I also think there's a bit of an imbalance because the AI cannot usually handle the demo general because it doesn't successfully counter his mines and follows the same path to his base helping him rank up quickly and then does even worse when he starts sending his nuclear bomb truck. The assault general has poor defense structures (especially compared to the tank general) and the epic unit is too weak in my opinion.

These are just minor issues and I was wondering if they would be addressed in 008 and I'm a huge fan of this mod...keep up the good work and I look forward to 008.

I haven't seen any of those issues...if you place the superweapon general or the nuke general on the insane difficulty...they will build superweapons if they are able, but my problem is that USA AI build all those damn supply centers and choke each other off or build them even when there are no supplies left.

First of all, let me say I enjoy this mod and have spent many, many hours playing it. I applaud your hours of work and dedication to bring us this freeware modification for our enjoyment, however, I do have a few critiques I hope you don't mind. I thoroughly love the upgrades like ERA for the tank general, the individual designs for command centers and workers, the addition of new units like mobile SAM launcher used by the salvage general, and finally an American armor general. I did not care for the armor general units particularly, like the wrath tank when well designed M1A2 would have sufficed and I cannot understand the obsession with throwing the overused Mammoth tank, which is almost unchanged since the haydays of Red Alert when it was a big soviet tank with missile pods. I would have also liked to see something more realistic and creative as opposed to the modular base defenses like the vaporizer turret or guardian turret. I did appreciate the addition of the anti-tank soldier with top-attack warhead and the blue arrow soldier. As for General Leang, the only unit I enjoy using is the KA-50 attack helicopter even though the model wasn't as good as that of other mods and it lacks missiles, which is odd for an attack helicopter. I didn't really like the seismic weapons platform or the gattling defense or the choice of grenadiers as the anti-tank infantry to name a few. I'm glad to see the mantis and other base tanks for the GLA instead of the same old scorpian tank, but there still isn't much in terms of tanks and you still have the same old stinger defense or tunnel. I'd just like to say I love your mod, hope 1.1 isn't the final version, and hope to see more....more factions and new generals. Keep up the good work.

I was excited by this mod after having seen what SWR did with Shockwave 1.1 and I was hoping to finally have a working Russian faction, which I have yet to see but Rise of the Reds 1.5 does not deliever.Contrary to the statement in the read me text file, the AI does not work for Russia and it barely functions as China and the USA at a bare minimum. China will attack with one or two gattling tanks and the USA will attack with a few humvees. That's it. Not even seven hard enemies against little ole me provides no challenge so the end result is a non-playable mod. I was disappointed that the mod also further limits gameplay by reducing your choices to three vanilla factions and removing the various generals. Also, you eliminated the Generals' Challenge Mode further limiting gameplay, which was another strike against your mod. I've seen people comment that adding a Russian faction is overused in mods, but I'd like to know where is a single mod with a working Russian Faction? While I applaud your creative abilities, I did not like the fact that you skipped the very good, real Russian vehicles and tanks in exchange for units like the Golem or the Kodiak, which aren't very likable in my opinion. I hope to see 2.0 very, very soon and thanks for effort you put into it.

I applaud your effort to add a Russian Faction, and I like the the unit designs even though the structures are really bland, but your mod is not playable. You also need to just scrap the weapon system selection and just create an armor general, ballistic general, and an air force general. I don't know why after six versions and a patch, the mod is virtually unplayable unless you just like building Russian structures and units for fun. You have a good idea, but you need to make some serious adjustments or this mod is going nowhere which would be a shame. You be expanding gameplay by adding more factions and generals, not going the other way in eliminating generals and reducing factions.

I have tried the End of Days once last year and just recently and I was utterly disappointed with the gameplay. For one, in skirmish play, you have only two sides to choose from (USA or Russia), which severlly limits gameplay to begin with combined with the fact that the AI doesn't even work for the Russian faction and the AI barely functions for the USA faction. As the USA faction, the AI will construct about four power plants, two barracks, and one supply drop zone in addition to four to six patriots with one or two fire bases. At most it will train four missile defenders for one of the fire bases and three for an attack in addition to 2 or 3 attacks by two lone rangers. That's it. So you introduce this Russian faction that I cannot even play with or against.

The GLA scorpion looks like a WWII era tank, but holds up to the technologically advanced crusader? The GLA stinger sites that you would think are to engage air targets double as anti-tank defenses. The large, impressive Patriot battery that has the ability to down ICBMs and ballastics is scaled down to a small, limited range anti armor, anti-air defense structures while failing to be able to stop a single scud or nuclear missile. The USA, which is the only world power with a superior ground force capable of fighting wars around the world has three generals incapable of sustained ground offensives and the only artillery unit is a horrible tomahawk launcher, which would be a ridiculous design in the real world. The stealth bomber requires a rank up, but it has been retired from service by the military while the aurora has no stealth ability, but is immune from fire until it attacks and then it is vulnerable to any unit with a pea shooter. The stealth F-22 has no stealth ability and can be downed by RPGs! There's no F-15 Silent Eagle, no F-35, no F-18 SuperHornet, no AH-1 SiperCobra, no Longbow Apache Gunship, or aircraft that are characteristic of the American military. The Chinese lack any of their aircraft, even Russian-made, but instead have some generic Mig type aircraft or the old KA-29 Helix transport while the Chinese WZ-10 attack helicopter under work never shows up. If you're not adding Russia, at least give China the Mi-28 Havoc or something. The GLA have no aircraft, not even an Mi-8 Hip. Also, where is the rest of the world in the conflict? No Russia, no Asian powers, no Leopards or British Challengers when the GLA attack in Germany? Where would modern 21st century warfare be without the IDF? These ragtag GLA types can invade America, but Israel just vanishes in this parallel universe.

I'm a huge Zero Hour FANatic, but there are some gripes. Why is it we have yet to see a second version in about 8 years? C&C 4 was a huge bomb, in my opinion, due to the fact that it dumped what the fundamentals like base construction and resource gathering. The problem with the C&C series was always the limited choice of units, defense structures, and structures themselves. You build the same old defense structures in the same spot, the power plants don't produce enough power, there aren't enough resource gathering methods, and everyone has a barracks, war factory, and a single tech building with no more than 5 upgrades. Zero Hour addressed this somewhat by adding unique generals, but still the problem of a lack of choice in defense structures and units or structures. It gave you supply drop zones, hackers, and black markets to allow you to continually earn credits, which was good, but where are the choices. The USA was touted as having a large air force, but you choose from raptors, stealth bombers, auroras, or the commanche...and the commanche was a discarded and poorly armed unit. We're using apache gunships in Iraq, not commanches. The crusader and the paladin were actually names of artillery units for the cancelled future combat systems and both units in the game are not impressive tanks nor is the defense laser for the paladin. The battle proven Abrams, which is supposed to serve into 2050 with a new M1A3 prototype in 2016 failed to make an appearance in the game. No Bradley IFVs armed with ATGMs or stinger missiles. No type 98 or 99 third generation MBTs for China...only the dull battlemaster tank.

I was very interested in this mod and I hope to see ver. 2.0 very soon. With that being said, I downloaded ROTR 1.5 for pc and I have several problems with gameplay, but I'd give you two thumbs up for the addition of Russia along with the new units and structures. My problems: 1) you have no challenge (which I can overlook in a mod as long as you have plenty of generals that the AI can use in skirmish), 2) playing as Russia I needed lots of space for power and the economy seemed like it needs tweaking, 3) I could only play as Russia - USA - China and Russia is the only faction I can play as without it crashing. I hope 2.0 will address these problems and I'm looking forward to it.

I simply make a duplicate of the entire Zero Hour folder (so you always have the original and don't have to reinstall it) and place the copy folder to your desktop...while installing shockwave...make sure you select the destination folder as the one you placed on the desktop. It works great! I've had only a single crash after winning..

As a fan, and a layman, how does one go about designing a new unit to scale while designing the effects for when it is firing a weapon, etc.? I'm just asking because I have a lot of solid design ideas, but I have no modding/design experience.

I like the addition of new generals; they provide new tactics and that is always a welcome benefit. This mod is one of the best because a) Contra addresses not only the addition of new units, but they continually tweak the values in term of damage, range, etc. and b) they've given us Zero Hour FANatics 7 working versions that took countless hours to produce expanding our gameplay and enjoyment. I may not particularly like the graphics for the generals, but that was easily overlooked..

I don't understand why people want balance in units, because warfare is often not a balance. WWII, in point, the Russians produced 50,000 T-34s that defeated the superior Panther, Tiger, & King Tiger. Contra is the best modification ever made for Zero Hour - it is stable, innovative, and very enjoyable. My hope is that this team will try to revolutionize with a new mod...I''ve been a C&C fan for 12 years...playing the games countless hours, but my frustration was always about the limitation of units...why don't you introduce a wide array from basic infantry and armor up to highly advanced (costly) units with many upgrades. I'd like to see a T-90 with range...upgradeable to sabot, heat, & HE rounds. Then upgrade protection...such as composite armour , Kontakt-5 ERA, & Shtora-1 countermeasures suite w/ electro-optical/IR "dazzlers." I'd also like to more structures, especially defense. I fear that we won't see a Generals 2 so we need mods.

Agreed, this mod shows a lot of potential, but it frequently crashed on me...but I enjoyed the graphics..new units...etc. I hope they exapand the units and structures further...and please fix the bugs so we can play through...nothing worse than spending all that time buildings...only to see have it crash.

I like the summary, but the Beta was very disappointing. It added nothing except a the ICBM superweapon, an M1A1 (the turret faces in the wrong direction), the MLRS, and you can construct an A-10. I recall an old mod still available at filefront that was very similar to your Beta. I'm not trying to be hostile...if someone could show me how to make a mod...I'd do it.

It is a bit ridiculous that infantry can take repeated shots at point blank range from tanks. In the Contra mod, it is worse, the infantry take even less damage.

I love the concept of this mod, but I'm skeptical because few mods ever pan out...especially the modern warfare mods. I've always wanted to see a mod includes the M1A2, Challenger, LeClerc, Type 99, T-95, and the Leopard. I'd rather pay 3200 for a powerful MBT. I didn't like how EA turned the next generation 155mm artillery (crusader) into a weak, cheap tank that only USA vanilla could use. Hope to see this mod up very soon.

This is perhaps the best mod for Zero Hour. The game added the ZTZ-99 to replace the battlemaster, but it is too weak. This is supposed to be the latest Chinese MBT on par with the Challenger, Leclerc, Leopard, or Abrams. Also, the Flame General relies on weapons that are clearly used by the Russians presently...why not add a fourth side incorporating either Russia or the European powers? America has the greatest armor in the world, but EA gave the Chinese a powerful Overlord and took away the M1A2/M1A3, which are best tanks in the world today.
