Everything (excepting the sphere of annihilation center) should be lit.

Models of ".mdl" type do not get lit if the model origin is outside the level in null / solid space. The models shown all happen to have the origin at the bottom of the bounding box instead of the center. Was a design choice I believe - so they kind of "float".

These are not ".bsp" ammo / health type boxes, which have level wall lighting applied, always.

You will note I did not specify "quake c gone bad" in the title.
This stuff up came from an engine change that tries to fix items placed in solids.
Somehow it was burying the origin.
