StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival. Featuring a unique single-player campaign that picks up where StarCraft: Brood War left off, StarCraft II will present a cast of new heroes and familiar faces in an edgy sci-fi story filled with adventure and intrigue. In addition, Blizzard will again offer unparalleled online play through Battle.net, the company's world-renowned gaming service, with several enhancements and new features to make StarCraft II the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game.

Eurogamer has the story. In short:

As part of Blizzard's ambitious plans for the new version of the Battle.net online platform to launch alongside StarCraft II, the company's design chief Rob Pardo [has] revealed plans to allow the mod community to sell content on a StarCraft II Marketplace after launch.

The Marketplace would be a forum for publishing and downloading both free and premium maps. "A portion of the revenue" from premium maps would go to the creator

It is unclear what criteria a map would be permitted to become "premium".

The news comes from Battle.net's general reveal at Blizzcon, which Eurogamer are also reporting. Alternatively, there's a video on Gamespot.

If you follow what they have been mentioning. Yes she is back, but being voiced by someone els. ( Hint, she was in Battlestar Galactica )

Oh and yea, the bit about the "premium maps" seems like a money hungry thing.. That is not the only thing they are doing though that seems a bit money hungry... think most people know about that though now.

Blizzard must be pretty money hungry if they want player made content to be sold off to other players, with a bit of the money sent to the creator... But you guys must see a bigger picture...

If Millions of players competes to make it into the premium maps, imagine how many players could've bought them, and how much money blizzard would get OVER the money a single creator would get...

But Starcraft 2 is for PC though... No news of it being ported to ps3 or xbox360 so yeah...

Lol. What kind of person would sell a map? Most likely those people dont understand the modding community. What a waste, even for blizz. Cause all the quality maps will be free. It just means "lets put our best mappers to work selling skirmish maps!" Kinda fail.

That is M$ doing that though, they love getting any bit of money they can.

Whats funny though most of the games that have DLC I have seen on 360 that are also on PC.. the PC ends up having it free while the other does not.

Just something I find a little funny that is all.
