GOG has a new sale celebrating another geographical region of developers - this time, games released from Germany, Austria and Switzerland-based studios! These regional focuses always dig up some great gems, old and new alike, and in the case of the former, why not get a side order of "wicked mod from the past" with your classic main? Take a look below at our picks!

Game: Risen: £2.05 GBP/$2.39 USD

Mod: Elusively Patched Unit

Elusively Patched Unit is a project that has two main goals. First: to gather everything about Risen's bugs, discrepancies, errors, issues, and problems and solutions, fixes, and remedies for these in one forum like place. Second: to expand upon the now ancient Unofficial Patch v1.3 (it's the base for EPU!) and add new quality fixes, possibilities, and stuff that fits the game's general premise. Since a new, quite promising avenue opened up (right here), the future looks brighter than ever, thus you might want to pay attention. The mod might contain changes that will have to be refined, updated, and improved upon later stages of its development, but as it keeps close to the fandom's beloved lore, fans should find this to their liking.

Game: Gothic II - Gold: £2.29 GBP/$2.69 USD

Mod: Velen 2.0 DE | EN | PL

By Team Velen

In this modification, the player takes on the role of William the pirate. They sailed to a small island, far from the known Myrtan islands and coasts, whose treasury overflows with gold and jewels. The crossing took several days, but it really existed - the island of Velen! Once there, and after they had the information they needed, they made a plan. It should be too simple... So simple that they were caught trying to break into the treasury and were immediately thrown into the dungeon. The verdict was decided on the same day: the execution of the two. Already the next morning it should happen.

X-Tended - Terran Conflict is a complete overhaul of Egosoft's game, X³: Terran Conflict. Featuring a completely new ship & weapon balance, numerous gameplay enhancements, streamlined ways to manage your assets, dozens of new weapons, wares, missiles, ships, new missions, a completely new map and a setting that is faithful to the official lore laid out by the books and games, X-Tended - Terran Conflict is easily one of the most extensive modifications ever created for a game of the X-Series.

Game: Gothic III: £2.29 GBP/$2.69 USD

Mod: Gothic 3: Lively Towns Mod

By y-u-k-o

Gothic 3: Lively Towns Mod

The Gothic 3 mod was created to make cities more "alive" by adding new NPCs, quests and items. The Gothic modding scenes are all deeply interwoven with a huge amount of content that cross-pollinates and this mod is no different, featuring compatibilities and some built-in functionality supporting other popular community mods. Although not entirely available in English, much of the Gothic community are non-native English speakers and so for most this is unlikely to be a problem. For those unfamiliar with the languages provided, though, there's plenty of walkthroughs and guides in the community for mods of all shapes and sizes just like this one to help you through!

When the Nameless demons brought their darkness to the world of Eo, the contract between cults and demons started to erase. Cults were afraid, because they were thinking, that the demons will destroy them. But some of the cults were thinking about the summoning of the Red God, they thought, that this God will save them! However, other cults were arguing, that this summoning have to be stopped, because nobody should summon the Red God! After this, the war between demons and guilds of the cults started!
