Risen is a single-player fantasy-themed action role-playing game under development by the German company Piranha Bytes, and published by Deep Silver. Piranha Bytes itself is developing the Windows version, due to be released on October 2, 2009. The Xbox 360 port has been outsourced to an experienced console team under the close supervision of Piranha Bytes, and is due for release sometime "in early 2010".

Deep Silver published the new cinematic trailer on YouTube. The trailer is supposed to support the release of the game. A download is available on the blog site - and shortly at our site, too.
The video shows some parts from the intro as well as well as new scenes which explain what happened right before the game's story. And of course, there are some action sequences.
Brilliant game, I can't wait for the sequel. I hope piranha bytes get back the rights to Gothic also.
Is the game laggy?
No. Better than never :P
Another wunderful game from the Piranha Bytes. Great work guys!
Definetly a wonderful game! But a quick tip to people who are thinking of buying this, DONT BUY XBOX VERSION! it is total sh*t. First i got this on my xbox, graphis were terrible, even on my FULL HDTV,and there were bugs. Now i got this on PC and the game is wonderful, and it has got a gothic feeling which is really good.
I helped the developers many times, when I lost mah gothic, I bought another one, played every single game of them, Gothic like 3 times, G2 like 10 times, G3 1 time (not so good ): ) and risen too.
All these games were epic, amazing and made fun!
I now understand why piranha always make the hero nameless and such, but if they wanted the player to identify with the character then they really should let the character customize the face, voice and maybe gender of the hero. Bethesda's elder scrolls were actually successful games as they allowed so much freedom already in the retail game.
Great game nonetheless, all Gothic games too! It's just that I hoped for a little more freedom in Risen as it was a new world and all.
BRAVO!
I pretty much saw this on the shelf at Gamestop, went home, researched a little, then bought it when I went back into town a few days later.
Purely addictive. A masterpiece to say the least.
Beautiful game, I loved every minute of it, this is what an "action-rpg" game is, this DEFINES the term "action-rpg" for the genre.
The fighting is the best part, block enemy blows with your shield or weapon, time your strikes, just pure gaming excellence. The RPG elements make it even better, alchemy, weapon crafting, trading, looting its all there. If the game world was a bit bigger would be my only request to make it better.
And to vagrantx, shame on you for stealing from the developers of pc games, your the reason why games for pc's are being castrated to run on consoles, you should be the one made to run on a console. BUY YOUR FREAKIN GAMES.
