Tides of Crimson mod for Civilization III: Conquests

Tides of Crimson Version 2.86

- Requires Civilization 3: Conquests v 1.22

* To Install: *

(1) Unzip the download file or extract to a folder using WINRAR, WINZIP, 7-ZIP or other unzipping program.

(2) Copy and paste the 'Tides of Crimson' folder and the 'TIDES OF CRIMSON_v_2_86.biq' file into your Civilization 3 Conquests Scenarios directory, for example (non-Steam):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\
for example (Steam):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization III Complete\Conquests\Scenarios\

(3) If you have a previous version of Tides of Crimson, you should be prompted to 'confirm folder replace' and merge the old "Tides of Crimson" folder with the new one. Select 'Yes' and then 'Yes to All' on all subsequent prompts.

- ***** IMPORTANT FOR STEAM USERS! ***** : Delete the "labels.txt" file in the "Tides of Crimson\Text" folder and rename the "labels STEAM.txt" file to "labels.txt" to fix incorrect text on menus and a crashing issue.

(4) To avoid confusion, you should delete the .biq files of any previous versions of Tides of Crimson

(5) Install Flintlock's C3X updated EXE (included in this mod) to fix the tile info box, AI artillery behavior, fix Submarine Bug, allow switching between trade partners, allow for single target stealth attacks, allow stack bombarding, and much more:
(Compatible with the GOG & Steam versions of Civ 3: Conquests, but possibly more)

- Copy the entire "C3X_R8" FOLDER to the same directory as your Civ3Conquests.exe file.

For example, for the GOG version, you should copy this folder into:
C:\GOG Games\Civilization III Complete\Conquests

For the STEAM version, you should copy this folder into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization III Complete\Conquests

- Go into the "C3X_R8" folder and double-click "INSTALL.bat" to install, and you're all set!

- start 'Civilization 3: Conquests'
- select 'Civ-Content' from the menu
- select 'Tides of Crimson_v_2_86.biq' and enjoy! =)

* Optional Title Screen Installation *

- Optional title screens are located in the "ToC Optional Title Screens" folder of your Tides of Crimson installation

- For Civilization 3 Conquests
Copy the "x_title.pcx" file your Conquests\Art folder:
Example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Art\
(make sure to make a backup of the original file first)

- For Civilization 3 Complete (Steam and possibly GOG version)
Copy the "Civ3complete_TITLE_bkgrnd.pcx" and the "Civ3complete_TITLE_buttons.pcx" files to the below directory and overwrite:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization III Complete\Conquests\Art\
(make sure to make a backup of the original file first)

* To play Civ 3 in High Definition or Windowed Mode *

Note: Windows 10 users may need to show hidden files to see conquests.ini.

For non-Steam version, Conquests.ini is located here (or something similar):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\conquests.ini

For Steam version, Conquests.ini is located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization III Complete\Conquests\conquests.ini

Type the following at the end of your conquests.ini file for the desired effects.
- "PlayIntro=0" - skips intro movie
- "KeepRes=1" - play Civ 3 in High Definition at your current computer or PC resolution
- "Video Mode=1024" - when combined with "KeepRes=1", allows you to play in windowed mode
