Tellurian is a mod for Impossible Creatures which we hope will: 1). Balance IC, so that as many stock creatures are as useful as possible. 2). Fill out the IC genetic library with new, interesting stock creatures that are useful without being overpowered. 3). Provide a whole new experience without sacrificing the fundamental feel of IC. 4). Introduce modelling and modding techniques which have never before been available to anyone besides the Impossible Creatures developers themselves. 5). Be continually updated, and improved, so that no creatures remain overpowered or "abused" for long. It is important to note that we're striving for professionalism, here. That means proper science-y creature bios and mostly sensible abilities-- though some sacrifices have to be made in the name of balance.

First, I'd like to apologize for keeping our ModDB followers in the dark for so terribly long. It seems the 2.4 announcement never quite made its way to this site. Hopefully, most of you have been keeping up with our other release platforms on the Steam Workshop and GoG.com, but if not, then fret not, as today is the day Tellurian triumphantly returns to ModDB. To get you all up to speed, here's a (very) brief summary of what's been done since 2.03, our last official release on this site.

NEW CREATURES:
- Beluga: Size 6 water artillery with Sonar Pulse
- Velvet Worm: Size 1 direct ranged unit with Pack Hunter
- Lammergeier: Flying artillery unit with Keen Sense
- Bolas Spider: Unique direct ranged unit that shoots webs from its front legs and contains HP on its tail
- Diamond Python: Our love letter to Creature Chaos--a reimagining of the boa constrictor
- Oogpister: A chemical artillery unit with Deflection Armour, high melee, and high speed

MODEL REMAKES:
- Whale Shark (also fixed fin bug)
- Narwhal
- Hornbill
- Spitting Spider
- Albatross

MAPS:
- Eroded Forts (6 players)
- Tiny Grove (6 players)
- Boardwalk (2 players)
- Viridis Ravine (6 players)
- Overpass (6 players)
- Nautilus (6 players)
- Dreamcatcher (2 players)
- Bikini Isles (6 players)
- Dukono (5 players)

- Further retouched Starfish

BALANCE CHANGES:
- Global defense nerf (creatures without Horns are now viable at Level 5)
- Artillery nerfed; piercing upgrade drastically reduced
- Defile is now minimum rank 3, but with greatly reduced damage and electricity cost
- Minimum land and water speeds increased to 15 and 12, respectively
- Land speeds for flying insects and birds increased
- Various nerfs to anti-air towers
- Spitting Spider granted Immunity

This is a very brief log of the most impactful changes we've made over the past few years. I couldn't hope to cover them all (not even close!) in this article, so you're encouraged to go out and discover for yourselves!

To end the article, here are just a couple preview images for version 2.5. We sincerely hope you enjoy playing our mod and hope to see you all online in the near future! Now, onward to Tellurian 3.0!

Hello, Sergio. I recommend visiting our Steam Workshop page if you'd like to contact us: Steamcommunity.com

To answer your question, Tellurian is a continually updated mod. As the IC Online battlefield is constantly changing and evolving, we work hard to adjust balance to best suit (or shake up) the current metagame. And, of course, we occasionally still add new creatures.

So, there's no "final version" that we're working towards. Now is as good a time to pick up the mod as any.

Perhaps this is already known but I found a tiny bug with the pistol shrimp. Apparently if you add the pistol shrimp's claws to a swimmer only creature it will loose it's price reduction bonus for been a swimmer only. To put it simply the price will change as if you made it into an amphibious creature.

I'm not getting this. What version of Tel are you running? Sometimes the cost reduction isn't as large as you'd think, especially for some of the larger, more powerful units. Also keep in mind that the shrimp's claws are adding a sizable amount of both melee damage And ranged damage, along with Barrier Destroy.

I do have the 2.1 version. Although now taking a second look it seems to be only for Pistol Shrimp Narwhal combination specifically. Sorry not sure how I not realized that sooner, should have tested it out better.
Well the way I can tell it is not right is after I add the first pair off legs the second pair should increase the price by an increased amount. However if I add the pistol shrimp claws before that the second pair of legs increase the price by the same amount. If I add the claws after the legs it also increases the price by significantly less then it does if I add it before the second pair of legs.
It is really weird that it is for only that specific combination.

Do you still have the same problem on 2.2? Get it here and check: Gog.com

You'll also get access to the new velvet worm.

I'm still not really sure there's a bug here. Narwhal/pistol shrimp is a rather powerful unit with the narwhal head, which grants horns as well as a lot of extra damage. I did the same thing, but with the shrimp head, and the cost reduction was much more noticeable.

The issue you're having with the legs has to do with IC's power system. Power is a hidden stat that governs the thresholds for each research level. Narwhal/shrimp with no legs, or only one pair, sits right on the border between levels 4 and 5. You'll notice that giving it both sets of legs (with the claws) makes the unit level 5. High power creatures of a level (no legs or one set of legs in this case) will always cost more relatively than low power creatures of the next level (both sets of legs). Adding the claws is pushing the creature to the other side of the threshold. That's why the price increase is noticeably less.

Ah I did not know about the power stat. Yeah it is most likely what you said. If it does have the shrimp head the second set of legs does increase the price by a lot more.

Btw the new animal is really cool.

I always though IC is dead which was sad to me since I love this game a lot. I am very happy there is some kind of mod that is in development in 2014 and ands many new high quality and balanced creatures. Many thanks for this!
