Tellurian is a mod for Impossible Creatures which we hope will: 1). Balance IC, so that as many stock creatures are as useful as possible. 2). Fill out the IC genetic library with new, interesting stock creatures that are useful without being overpowered. 3). Provide a whole new experience without sacrificing the fundamental feel of IC. 4). Introduce modelling and modding techniques which have never before been available to anyone besides the Impossible Creatures developers themselves. 5). Be continually updated, and improved, so that no creatures remain overpowered or "abused" for long. It is important to note that we're striving for professionalism, here. That means proper science-y creature bios and mostly sensible abilities-- though some sacrifices have to be made in the name of balance.

Update explaining what we have planned for Tellurian in the near future. No creature announcements (yet).

Hi all! Puglin here. I'm posting to give everyone a bit of a heads up regarding the projects we've got in the pipeline regarding the future of the Tellurian mod. In chronological order:

In the next few months we're planning to roll out a series of five mini-expansions; each will contain a single creature and some balance changes. It's a new strategy we're trying out now we have Steam/Workshop support-- it brings development and community closer together (we can get feedback on each individual creature as they are completed) and it means we'll be pushing out content more regularly, which is exciting for us! I can't give exact schedules yet; I've been travelling for the last six months and probably will continue to do so for a little while longer, but we've managed to find a little bit of time to work here and there and the first creature (sorry, no spoilers) is shaping up well. These five new creatures don't have a specific theme, but we're hoping they'll help to flesh out the gene pool a little bit, adding diversity in critical niches.

Following the completion of these micro-patches, we'll be starting work in earnest on Tel 3.0; that will be a big, proper patch (10-15 creatures, following a theme) with some new elements we're really excited about exploring-- including a possible very special guest collaborator, if we're lucky! Truth is, four of the Tel 3.0 creatures are already almost finished, so we're really hopeful that we'll be able to drop the patch within a reasonable timeframe.
Anyway, that's all I can say for now-- rest assured, we're working hard when life permits. Hope you're as excited as we are; let us know how you feel about these announcements (micro-patches especially-- it's an interesting notion we want feedback on) in this thread. We'll also be posting some teasers every so often, just to stoke the hype train's engines. See ya!

Note from Steve: If you're playing the GoG version, or haven't yet upgraded from the original game, you aren't being left out! You'll get the pre-3.0 creatures a little later as a pack, more akin to the previous major updates. You should get 3.0 at the same time as Steam users, however. Stay tuned!

As always, these downloads will be posted here when they're ready.
