Single/Multiplayer mod. Aim for this mod is to make the game more dynamic, alive, a bit more realistic and fresh. There are definitely Half-Life and Counter-Strike influences. Original game is really stiff and I want to change that. This includes Major and many minor changes, like AI behavior - enemy will react when they hear your footsteps, so this kinda makes sense to walk by default and run when the run key(+speed) is pressed. Damage, damage radius revamp, weapon recoil(even reloading of BFG xd), damage knockback. Enemies deal realistic damage etc. This is work in progress. Feel free to send me any tips what would you like to change/add. I'm a beginner in C, but have major Pawn experience.

So, I got caught with bugs, features hard to add and life struggles...
In the meantime Nick wanted someone to do a mod with his ideas, I added some mine, and a new mod came to be: RAMPAGE. There are quite a few features already added, as this is version 1.0a now. Many more to come, especially for AI and singleplayer. This mod is mainly singleplayer oriented which is Nick's cup of tea, but we also took care about multiplayer mode and it will be extended quite thoroughly. Modes like gungame or double gungame, capture the nuke etc. are planned.
LINK TO RAMPAGE MOD:
I don't think I'm abandoning this project and actually many features were added from REdux to RAMPAGE.
I realise that there's at least a few of you that await the new version, so I think I'll give you some heads up.
Fixed(?) that you couldn't pickup items that ware displaced by explosions and which later respawned. This is newest. You only need this version. Older...
Added dynamic death cam. Further accuracy tweaks(when crouched). Weapon bobing when crouched tweaked. Fixed some monsters shooting backwards.
Included missing shotgun model, as I moded it to change the "silent cock switching" to normal switching.

Doesn't seem to be compatible with KMQuake2; I put everything in the baseq2 folder and nothing happens.
Regardless, Quake 2 could use more mods like this. It's still playable despite its age, but unfortunately the vanilla game is kind of a mess in several ways. Enemy AI is godawful; all difficulty levels provide zero challenge; there are excessive amounts of ammo in every map (a lifelong problem with Id Software games); weapon bobbing is so lame it gives the impression that your character is running around on a skateboard, and to make matters worse none of the weapons have a muzzle flash effect (both issues were adressed in the Nintendo 64 version, but I've yet to see any mod or source port that fixes this on PC).
I find Quake II perfectly balanced, but here are a few ideas for you:
these will make things more challenging, without turning the game into something completely unrelated:
1) Try playing without using power-cells armor, quad damage and invulnerability items. If you want more - don't take ammo upgrades.
2) Try playing without uncovering secrets. Combine this and the previous idea together :-)
3) Try the mission packs, especially Ground Zero. They raise the challenge by more than a solid degree.
Good hunting!
I want to add weapon flashes, but I would need to compile our own Q2Pro build, and I can't get it to compile under windows 10(yet I'm newb).
Hey! Try our Rampage mod! Improving the game (and AI) with each update!
really dig this mod. but is there maybe a way you can disable the shields for the gunners? regardless, keep up the good work. i love mods like this.
Try Rampage dude!
