New game recommended but not required. If the keys are acting weird, remove your remap .xml file in users/youraccount/appdata/local/mygames/farcry2 3.1...

Hey,Loving the mod but I have an issue where the holstering animation dosen't work,it starts playing for a second but the gun\object never holsters,I use K for crouch,I tried ajusting the keybind in game but it dosen't work,I tried deleting I.imgur.com (The control notepad thing) and nothing, any ideas?

Hmm. Was this with a new game, or existing save?

The issue is just with introducing new keybinds that aren't native to the game. By adding manual holstering and inspection, I'm running the risk of conflicting with folks custom keys.

I would try this:

1. Completely remove the Far Cry 2 folder from the "my games" folder in your users/appdata/local

2. Start a new game with default controls.

3. If that works as intended, we can go from there and try to come up with a holster/inspection keybind that works better for you.

Is it Possible to use this with realism+?

Realism+ basically is Redux on Infamous Redux difficulty (which is what I recommend everyone play this mod on).

FC2 mods aren't really compatible since they're all modding the same file (patch.dat).

So, to combine mods you need to unpack both, and then drag/drop to combine what you want.

What is it you're looking for from both?

If you just want to add the machete takedowns and "FC3" style healing to Redux, Tom has provided some thorough guides:

Let me know if I can help.

Thank you so much that was exactly what I was looking for.

Two questions I thought about while playing:

1. Is there a way to edit the controls so taking malaria medicine is on a different keybind than the one used to heal yourself? Sometimes, I'll need to take malaria medicine and don't have full health, but I don't necessarily want to use my last heal syringe before I can take the medicine.

2. Without using Reshade/SweetFX or just by turning down gamma/contrast, is there a way to make nights darker in the game code itself?

1. I think this is possible, but it might take some custom coding. There is a signal for taking medicine that is separate from healing. I'm not sure exactly how to implement this, though.

2. Yes. This type of thing would be handled in the managers.fcb file found in the worlds folder. Redux should actually be a bit darker than default. I also removed rim lighting from the player, so you don't glow blue at night anymore.

Is there a way to install the updated Redux version with default animations ?

I REALLY want to install this version and start a new game because we can inspect the weapon and FINALLY holster it, but I just can't stand it if I have to see my weapon in "passive" mode each time it's drawn, even if it's just when crouching..

Anyway, thanks for the work, you've made Far Cry 2 so much more enjoyable.

Wow. I'm surprised the lowered hold during crouch movement is that big of a turn off.

Think about what it looks like to crouch walk with a readied SVD. LOL

Anyway, yes you can totally do this.

Unpack the mod with the mod tools hosted above, navigate to graphics/character/animation/weapons and delete every "wlkcrh", "walkcrouch", etc. file.

Then repack and you're good to go!

It works, thanks !

Now, do you know how can I disable the wheel mouse ?

That's because I'm using "FreePIE (Programmable Input Emulator)".

What it does: When I'm using the wheel mouse, my character moves slower or faster, and I'm controlling his speed with the wheel mouse. That's way better for stealth.

Now with the new redux version, my character changes weapons everytime I use the wheel to move slower or faster. I didn't have this problem with an older version of redux, I think because the wheel mouse was disable ?

Anyway, not a big problem, I can live with it.

And I wanted to ask, if you ever plan to update your mod, could you implement silent machete kills ? I always wanted to be able to kill someone with the machete without being spotted, that would be really cool.

Thanks for the help !

Hell yea dude! I use that too. Love the mouse wheel movement, but I restored the default behavior a few versions ago because I got so many complaints.

Open up your unpacked patch and go to inputcommon.xml in the config folder. Look for "wheel" or "update", and you'll find it. Remove that entire line.

As for the machete, no. I won't be adding that to redux. It's just to janky and the game wasn't built around it. You can machete kill people in Pala while someone is staring at you and no one reacts. Hah!

But, now that you seem to know your way around the mod files, you can use Tom's guide to add it yourself.

Moddb.com

You should be able to just copy these files into a redux unpack without conflict.

Since you use the mouse wheel to move, you don't even need to manually edit the "ironsight" speed of the machete.

Just combine and repack.

A very thorough and balanced redux that enhances the game, while still retaining the original gameplay/spirit, without any of the artificial "hardcore features" from other mods.

The author was even nice enough to provide a version with re-enabled GPS map, because of my bad eyesight so mad respect to him.
