This mod removes any indicators from the game's maps that reveal the player's location on the map. The purpose is to make the player use landmarks and compare the surrounding terrain to what's drawn on the map for navigation instead of magical markings.

Features:
- Player position indicator removed from the map
- Compass screen removed from use
- Safe house indicators removed from the map
- Mission location indicators colored black

Safe house icons are removed, since otherwise a blinking safe house icon would reveal your position.
Mission location indicators are still drawn on the compass screen. They are black so they blend in with the black screen, effectively making them not visible on the compass.

Known issues:
- Colors of the faction HQ indicators on the map might look weird. Does not affect gameplay, but looks funny
- Diamond indicators on the map might get covered by other nearby icons. Eg. if a diamond is found near a guard post, the guard post icon might cover up the diamond icon.

The mod does work with existing save files, you don't have to start the game over after installing the mod.

Does this remove the special coloration of street signs?

No. I don't really even notice that effect when playing myself, so I didn't think of it. I recall the street signs pointing to your next mission objective are coloured differently, right, that's what you mean?

Can you post a comment here on how you did it? Because there are other mods out there that I like, but they also removed the player map marker. Knowing how it was done would help me trace the step back to re-enable the marker without losing the new icons.

Hello!

I don't actually remember in detail anymore, but I think searching the web for modding instructions should get results.

There are modding tools that let you unpack the game files so that you can access the image file where the map icons are. I recall there is one image file that has many icons in a grid pattern, the mod that removes the marker probably just deleted the icon from the spot where it used to be in the image file. You can edit the image file in any regular image editor; you could copy the map marker from an unmodded game and paste it back to the mod where you want to add it. Then you would use the modding tools to pack the image file back into .dat/.fat files.

Is this compatible with Dylans Mod?

Very likely not. I assume Dylan's Mod wants to overwrite same files that this mod does.

This crash was probably because of the Fortunes Pack DLC was installed, the mod used to not support that. Now there is a separate version for playing with the Fortunes Pack.
