The biggest mod stories for the week of September 9 2018.

For this recurring segment, we will be highlighting the five biggest stories on ModDB for the prior week. Whether it's new mod announcements, major mod releases, or important stories that affect the mod scene as a whole, you'll find them rounded up here each week.

The Week of September 9 2018

Doom Slayer Chronicles is the most beautiful and technologically advanced mappack for Doom2 singleplayer. Doom Slayer Chronicles (DSC) compatible with all known gameplay mods for Doom2. The DSC takes advantage of the newest features of gzdoom, such as hardware shaders, full-screen post-processing, PBR textures (normals and specular maps, also often called "bump mapping"), high-resolution textures, and of course dynamic lighting.

Dark Interval is a restoration/revision mod that lets you play Half-Life 2 as it could have been: with custom maps, new voiced dialogue, new models and textures, all based on Valve's early concepts. The mod is released in episodes, the most recent being Dark Interval: Part I - an intro chapter to the bigger story.

Commandos 2: Destination Paris contains all the main and bonus missions (ALL modified) from Men Of Courage plus more than 50 fan made missions and ALL the maps from 'Commandos 3', 'Behind Enemy Lines' and 'Beyond the Call of Duty' (of course all with a modified mission) plus a few more bonuses.

Despite announcements to the contrary, a new expansion pack for Binding of Isaac is on the way. Called Binding of Isaac: Repentance, the expansion was announced by creator Edmund McMillen (after previously announcing that The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ would be the last expansion a few years ago).

Although Undead Labs stated that they do not plan to actively prevent or support mods, the modding community of State of Decay has already started making them.

I love the "Despite announcements to the contrary" and the "after previously announcing that The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ would be the last expansion a few years ago".

Yes, the new expansion is unecessary and at this stage BoI 2 should already be a thing.
I know for most people is "more content" and that's fine for them (and even some of my friends agree with this); but for me, it's a uncessary broken expansion that will unbalace even more a great game. It's sad tbh, I really liked this game.
