This mod runs properly only with Amnesia from Steam, getting the game from other sites, can easly cause issues when playing this mod, since there might be a bit different file system
New version 4.0 released with tons of changes and now being something much more like the original Amnesia and the 2.0 version of the mod
This is a unique type mod for Amnesia the dark descent named Amnesia:horror rebuild, unlike the most, it's not a custom story, it's a complete musics and monster sounds remaking, editing the defaut ones of the game changing pitch and time. This mod also edit the maps of the game, making a little more detailed, thanks to more edited and custom assets. But most important it will use custom monsters from different mods as a replacement for the standard ones, are used in edited versions, anyways you now will have a few new monsters that will hunt you, all with theyr own themes and differences not only in aspect, some they will be able to see you in the dark or in the light, or not really able to see you if in the dark, some will start to chase you when seen in a very short amount of time in comparison to others.
Most important objects has different spots to search, like a key can be on a shelf, instead of in a desk, and most of monsters encounters are different, making the mod playing with your memory, since things will not always be as you remember.
The Full Conversion also brings justine dlc maps and new levels as well, some are brand new, some are edited version of the original maps. Different encounters than the 2.0 and even new ones, with a complete overhaul regarding music making the game feel much more different, as also many other sounds got replaced with new and better ones. Talking about new maps, there is 5 optional ones, where you may get a few bonus supplies and new notes regarding the bonus lore of this alternate variation of the Amnesia universe.
The 4.0 removes lots of useless features, adds some new ones and brings back the music and feel of the 2.0
Other features of it are a new Lantern, a few edited mechanics, better looking monsters, most of them have new sounds as well, and a considerable harder gameplay, not counting that you no longer need to replace files like before, apart for a few ones, wich still don't makes an considerable difference on defaut game.
Hard mode with stronger monsters released, needs still to be updated.

This patch is reccomended for youtubers that want to do videos with my mod, since it edits the not edited music used a very little, just to prevent possible copyright and being so, more safe for videos.

Installation for 2.0 version: very simple, take the folders from the amnesia horror rebuild zip folder(entites, lang, , maps music, sounds) and put them on the Amnesia the dark deshent folder, the one where is the folders with the same names and replace them, and you have installed the mod.
Installation for Full Conversion:
Put the Amnesia The Dark Deshent folder in the same one where there is the videogame one, as a sort of replacement.
usually in the folder named "common" after the one "SteamLibrary".
If the PC will ask you to replace files, then most likely you are installing it correctly. So then
open the Amnesia The Dark Deshent folder from steam, the one where you install mods.
Search the folder named time_distortion(the reason of why it use the same name of the other mod is because they are the same full conversion base) and open it
Then search Horror_Rebuild.bat and double click on it to lauch like normal. The game will advertise you that "ConfigFiles" path entry were
not definited, it's not a problem to worry about, just click OK and the mod will launch correctly
BACKUP HIGLY RECCOMENDED! In case you want to play the 2.0 version of the mod, with the full conversion, it's no longer needed.

As the title already says there will be a change of plans, infact from now on the Full Conversion will be listed as beta, not as "full version". As I realized(expecially thanks to others) the mod really needs A LOT of changes to make it actually decent. Possibly and most likely I will upload the Full Conversion with the update.
So what things I will do in the next update/version of the mod? Absolutely remove a good portion of jumpscares. A few will still be there.
Making the mod more Original friendly: many things will be cut, like the new intro, dream sequences, a few of the new maps will be will be removed almost completly. The maps that I made can still be useful for the use of other new maps as replacement.
Less encounters with monsters and more use of "not dangerus" encounters.
A good portion of the new monsters will be replaced to be more Amnesia like, not all but some.

New variants for Grunts and Brutes
The new Grunt variant will replace the Chubby and will use a bunch of new sounds.
This brute variant will be a bit faster, but will not do the damage of the Brute(I also plan to change it's sounds). Probably it will replace the Penumbra dog and Infected.
Many content from the 2.0 will return, like most of the textures and sounds, and now also it's soundtrack will finally return to have a big part. Some sounds that got pitch lower will be a bit more like the original, as well some "new tracks". The voices will remain as the original. This is most likely happy news for who played and liked the 2.0
Other new features planned are new maps, like a new section in early game to replace the other scrapped ones, they will also help to create tension and build all up better.
A brand new monster never seen in other mods will be appear in a certain moment. It will be encountered only 1 time, wich it's more than enough and you will unserstand when seeing it
Here is a concept of it, still in hard development.
With important changes, this means that the added lore will be changed a bit.
Fixing some bugs, like regarding textures, map holes.
There will be fewer hallucinations also.
If there will be released assets free to use I will see if adding them.
I still hope to find someone that can work for making the new version of the mod and not ending up like it did before, so if you want to join the project, send me a message and I will invite you to my development group.

Hey i have a question, are you planing on updating version 5.0 of horror rebuild with a hard mode? like you did with the other versions of horror rebuild
the game crashes upon getting an error message of:
'-defaultmainsettingssdl2'
'-defaultuserkeyssdl2'
and even if I do fix that, when I go into the game itself, and start a new game. the game crashes completely. is there something I'm doing that's wrong?
Sorry for late answer, but I wanted to tell you that I did disinstall the game to then install it, then I dowloaded the mod from the link I did put in here and installed the mod as well, but surprisingly I didn't got any errors like that. Might be maybe related to being conflicting with certain other mods? I dubt, but could be the case
There's definitely room for improvement. Many objects have their custom textures, sounds are modified which is cool, though it's quite poor when it comes to design and scripting, especially cellarbase areas which have no welders and most doors are placed incorrectly(yeah weird problem - when doors open outwards you must rotate the door frame by 180° or else they won't open properly)
Also I experienced the same problem with enemies as I did many months ago. They were walking back and forth in narrow corridors and getting past them was impossible. In storage the one patrolling near cave-in likes to get stuck in one place. In prison the dog that triggers after picking up glass container tends to walk only up and down the stairs making it literally impossible to dodge. Some monsters tho spawn without any warning which may result in really unexpected encounters, that's good for sure, kinda inspired me to use the same trick in my mod, thanks.
If you plan to carry on with this project you definitely oughta take care of details. Protip: It's better to release small and decent looking portion of mod rather than big and empty walking simulator
Really weird issue about enemies, I would have expected if they were from new maps, but seems like the issues you got are on ones from the base game. The only time something like that happens is when making too much noise, or not hiding for enough time. Anyways the v.5.0 was in development for like 6/5 months and, since it's supposed to be a beta testbuild the updates will be instead not really much big, around how they were for the other versions.
hi look i have a problem,when i get past the water monster part to find the 3 rods to power the elevator,i can't find the key to the machine room i tried to find it in the rooms of the normal amnesia and from the mod and its not in those places,i can't progress if i dont find that key
Did you reached the Guest Room?
No i cant even reach it because in the other room i cant open doors,or find the door that takes me to it
On that map you mean there is a blocked passage where there aren't doors. You can walk over it(on the next version that area will be more clear)
oh hey eren almost forgot to ask how you install the hard mode patch,cuz i did the installation like the mod and i dont see the option to play in hard mode,i don't know if i miss something
The hard mode replaces the files of the mod, he doesn't add it as alternate because in mods I don't know how it works
