Sequels and adaptations. Spell check FTW.

[sarcasm]Yeah, mods have certainly changed all that...[/sarcasm]

Adaptions and adaptations are different things, use a dictionary.

No, actually they're the same things, as in synonymous. But since "movie adaptation" is the accepted common usage phrase, and since the post has been changed to "adaptation" it's obvious that "adaptation" was his intent and that it was misspelled. Use your brain.

life wouldn't be worth the effort without mods! Yes, I'd have a life, but as it was put in James Bond: The World Is Not Enough, "What's the point of living if you can't feel alive?" And without mods, the games I play (namely Half-Life 2) and I myself wouldn't feel very alive.

Remembering how developing our "The Way" mod removed a month of my life I'm glad the task was time-boxed. A mod should have a deadline or you will end up iterating over and over...

One month was all we got and that was all we needed :)

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

The problem is that most of those time-boxed games end up with development stopping at the release.
No patching sucks, since all mods (and games) need them.

The way the industry is right now...
I voted for sequels and movie adapts.
The industry is afraid to take chances...thats the major problem facing all game developers now.

I often feel like my life revolves around my modding, rather then the other way around, which isn't good as I spend too much time on my P.C. So much so that I recently contracted R.S.I so i'm having to take a break modding at the moment, & not spend too much time on my P.C.

So let that be a warning to all thoughs modders out there that spend day & night glued to their P.C, it isn't good for you at all, & don't forget to take plenty of breaks.

See this link for R.S.I info & how to avoid it:

Dragonlord Dec 15 2007, 8:19am says:
"Boring games all the time since companies don't want to risk innovating."

Truest words spoken to date ... (sigh) ... what we need is a new generation of games (or "next-gen") which ACTUALLY innovate - unlike games such as crysis which seemed to be just farcry with a few simplistic suit controls and the worst multi-player seen since they actually started including multi-player in games ... why can't they try something interesting?

OK, rant's almost done now..

I look at a game made now and compare it to one made five years ago and all I can see is a graphical improvement. "The most innovative game ever" or whatever they said, Crysis should be removed from the shelves for false advertising!!!

OK, done.
