I RUN a mod whenever I get the chance, but I can't actually do any of the modding, just the concept/balancing/writing etc. Hence why the bloody thing hasn't been finished yet ><
Full time, although to a lesser extent than I used to now that the team is large and experianced enough to know what their doing. Having a super active co-leader helps too:-D
i only make simple mods since i am still learning. mostly just adding stuff and simple scripts. also im making simple models with MAX 7..... but when im better ill move on to full time i think =)
well im for whenever i get a chance, and its definatly not full time, its maybe an hour or two a week. but anyways the thing that got me about this poll is the right now 48% of people are not modders. thats impressive. way to go moddb for having a lot of people that are here to actually play the games we make.
I'd say I qualify as Modding all of the time because even when I'm not actively Modding, I'm playing games and thinking about why this works and what would work better. I'm on forums giving people constructive criticism to better forward the Modding community, I'm exploring ideas and concepts for my own Mod.
I'd say the difference between "Full time" and "Whatever chance I get" is the difference between those who see Modding as a hobby and those who see Modding as something that will determine the direction their life takes, and wish to take hold of that notion with both hands and make it work.
Reading back over my post I do realise it sounds pretty braggish, but it's actually because I've found something that I want to do with my life. What you're reading is passion resulting from a sense of empowerment, or vice versa maybe.
Modding's not just about the code. If you can write a good story or draw well or have an analytical and artistic eye you could becaome a writer, 2D artist or 3D artist. Then there's musical involvement or even the sound effects if you like playing around with and distorting things.
If you're interested in Modding but aren't sure which discipline, if any, you might be interested in trying out, I'd suggest doing a Mod search here on the ModDB and picking a selection of Mods you'd like to follow. A lot of these Mods have decided to share information on the Modding process on their forums in the form of team members' developer blogs or diaries which chronicle their involvement in the Mod. Reading those will give you an idea of what you might like to try out.
Full time and any chance i get kinda means the same thing...
Any chance I get means you have more thengs to do, and you do it whenever you're not doing something else.
whenever im not at work i mod or game
I dont even kno how to mod!
Does running ModDB count as modding :?
i dont have any skills and all i do is play but ive got this killer concept for a mod...

I suppose when you're studying 'Computer Games Programming', it's sorta full time?

Define "mod"
I RUN a mod whenever I get the chance, but I can't actually do any of the modding, just the concept/balancing/writing etc. Hence why the bloody thing hasn't been finished yet ><
I mod full time (aside from schooling) Hell I don't even play the games much anymore.

Full time, although to a lesser extent than I used to now that the team is large and experianced enough to know what their doing. Having a super active co-leader helps too:-D
I mod whenever i´ve got free time.
i only make simple mods since i am still learning. mostly just adding stuff and simple scripts. also im making simple models with MAX 7..... but when im better ill move on to full time i think =)
What people don't realise is that modding is funnier than gaming!
Look at all the people only using moddb to rape all its mods :P
Come on people join in !
I mod when I get the inspiration which is most of the time but sometimes it's hard to get / stay motivated.
