For three years now, mod teams have had a place to show off and share their work with the world at ModDB.com. But where did the individual map makers, modellers, sound artists and animaters go? They went to specific game sites and never found a real place to pimp their wares. Now... this is all about to change!
Giving gamers the power to customize their games and share their customizations is the idea behind Addon DB. Variety is the 'spice of life' and with games titles losing their creative edge due to the sheer number of sequels and movie adaptations flooding the market, game addons have emerged to fill the void, allowing players the power to customize their game, their way.
Addons can be weird, they can be whacky, they can be anything their creator wants them to be and Addon DB is here to showcase them all.
Fantastic job Staff of Moddb!
Man, this is so cool.
Great stuff... can't say something else than great :D . Keep up the good work.
rofl. :D
omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg...
:D
Should be good...checking it out now.
Hmm I don't get that the picture in the newspost says that it is still in a 'members only beta'.
But nice work anyway.
Sweet :D
I added some shiz already :)
you should import the games list diractly over to addon db because at the moment there is only pax pain and it would save the communerty from asking for every game again
Thanks scott, it will be alot harder to allow good news to come across on this site, but good luck
Sounds great.. have to check it out ^^
awesome idea
AddonDB.com is such a great idea. Now the small modders in this world won't be overshadowed by the ModDB community's only interest in the full package, and not the small pieces.
Good going, INtense. :)
Nice!
I shall return to addon hence the full rlease.
Great stuff ^^
yay i can get skins for css now
NOTE U NEED TO ADD COUNTER-STRIKE SOURCE TO UR GAMES LIST. i had to put my css maps i already uploaded into the half life 2 catagory because there isnt a css one, and i thought that would be the closest. This is a great idea. For years i have been going to fpsbanana.com for maps, skins, and models for games, but now i can get all of that, plus a bigger community, and in the much better organized moddb format. Great idea and i hope it takes off.
ps, if u make a css section, can u try and move my maps into it (awp_knivez and ad_glass_final) thanks.
It's a beta, guys. Give it some time.
as far as I know random person, AddonDB uses the same games database as ModDB : Moddb.com
great idea! this can cover addons fro ut2kx (known as mutators) addons for halife2 DM, CSS ..ect warcraft3,..ect ..ect
Cool stuff,
I love the blue layout :D
Why couldn't you use that in ModDB v.3? :P
Awesome idea guys! This will rock :D
It is a really good idea for Armor for a certain game like Morrowind or Oblivion, and good for other games like Counterstrike and Halflife two for player models!!!!
It will also help with guns for FPS!
:D
Good going, Scott and the AddonDB team!
Cool, good move.
It looks familiar...lol.
I've known about this for a year.
Being an ex-staffie rules.
Intresting. I might have a few things to add...
i really like this idea!
WOOTNESS :D
Can't you just meld them into one ubersite? ?UberDB.com? :)
awesome. I <3 it
This is a great idea. Hope it takes off!
Looks great!
2 suggestions on my end:
1- The scheme is hell on my eyes! Blue and black, icky.
2- Maybe having profiles for contributors like that of a mods that can hold all of their work instead of a profile for each piece. That way people can see all their work at once when things start getting full. (help keep things easier and organized).
Overall a good start though! But the colors are just horrible (no offence)!
love the blue :Q
:o epic
Yeah the blue's cool. I don't see what people could see wrong with it.
woooo!
....
WOOOOO!
Wow, keep on keepin' on guys!
I can't login :( .
Woo! Another place that I'll be useless to!
This is a perfect idea for the future of modding. It is going to be a lively site, I expect, because that's the place to see smaller chunks of the big cake and know exactly who made them and for what purpose. I expect more contact between modders adn lors of interaction. This is like the coolest game I have ever played, only its reallife.
Stands up, raises arm, salutes,
SinKing
I think this is where my so called Tiberian Sun graphics mod should be.
this is an awesome idea. i like the colour scheme and the implementation so far. suggestions:
- when you select the game your addon is for it would be awesome to then be able to pick a mod from a second dropdown list of all the mods for that game (drawn from moddb)
- creator profiles are a must. that way ppl can link others to their profiles and have all their addons listed there. it'd also be nice to have a link to the author's profile on every addon, so you can have a look at their other work easily.
nice, ill add some stuff soon
Fpsbanana.com
AddonDB is far better than fps banana already.
interesting concept, sounds like a good idea!
Good idea. I think you're logo should be either a bolt or more recognizable as a nut (with enough depth to see the threading). The twin blue cheerios didn't register for quite awhile.
