Actually, drag and "slow lasers" are not problems in Star Wars. Just sound. The "slow lasers" are actually lasers traveling at the speed of light, the colored glow you see is actually the residual energy.
Residual energy? I'm not really sure what you are talking about, but the only way to see an afterglow would be if there were some plasma produced by a high power laser beam ionizing the gas it was travelling in. But that's it - you need the gas - the atmosphere.
Same with the drag - all the ships have their engines turned on all the time, even with constant speed, and small vessels such as fighters and bombers turn using pitch and roll. But they're in space! You need atmosphere for drag and lift.
That's because George Lucas used footage from old dogfight documentaries as an inspiration for space battles and he didn't give 2 sh'ts about physics and neither should anyone.
well, doesn't SW "laser" fire plasma bolts (ionised gas particles), instead of lasers? :)
Bolt-shaped plasma that stays bolt-shaped after it leaves the gun is even harder to achieve than slowing down photons. (scientist have actually managed to slow down some photons, and the closest we have come to plasma gun is this En.wikipedia.org)
But would you guys resist your inner nerds and stop pushing science into Star Wars' mouth?
They're meant to be fun movies with weird aliens, epic space battles with epic starships, and voodoo magic dudes with neon lights swords, and space boobs, and all other cool epic stuff.

A nice touch could also be to make the small windows to glitter as the hangarbay Shields already do in this video. Besides that, really nice work! I have never seen such quality in any mods for Empire at war before this one!

Looks awesome, but out of curiosity, do the hardpoints correspond to the fires like in the vanilla game, and if so does that mean that this ship would be destroyed with this much damage?? Either way, great work and I wish you guys the best of luck with this mod, I'm sure everyone will love it.
Each fire here is linked to a hardpoint. Not shown here are the damage particles for the engines as well.
Also, not to brag or anything, but this will look even better in-game ;)

That is some impressive fire, and i was wondering how do i add/implement new units to a faction. currently i am experimenting on a mod of my own and could really use the information.I plan on becoming a future mod producer but currently i am unable to figure out how to add new units. And by the way i cant wait for this mod to come out it looks really cool. I hope that you guys mod makes it to the top of the charts!
