Nice work, but the projectiles should be faster(that is LIGHT, LIGHT is incredible fast), and the bigger projectiles are a bit TOO big. Trust me i know that these projectiles just aren't good enough(They aren't bad). And the projectiles are making an underestimated part of game/mod quality.

Btw i hope you will not keep the ingame experience like this, because it simply looks like the original game with some minor changes.

If you want to see good projectiles, look at cheesecakes Legacy Mod or ask me for some screenshots :D, i am glad if i can help as i think that this mod can become the greatest
of all.

I have nothing to do with projectiles myself but I do agree. Cheese is actually our particlemaster, the particles you see here belong to Geroenimo.

It should be very different. Likewise, it certainly won't be controlled by Thrawn, it was just assigned to him for testing I believe.

The thing is, these projectiles are not literally "light". Some might be called laser cannons but they are certainly not lasers, they might simply use lasers to charge up the gas. Particles and projectiles are things that I'm already taking care of but we haven't shown them yet, I guess because we don't have textured ships ready to be shooting them, but I'm not entirely sure.

If you look closely you can see at the end of the vid that it allready had lost one of it´s guns, so yes, it has destroyable hardpoints ;)

That's actually a slight bug, it is supposed to have no targetable hardpoints the way I coded it, but the for yvaw they'll probably want to recode it with different stats and weapons.

Well that's really too bad, as I do agree but with 140 turrets worth of weapons, and that's only the turrets themselves it would take atleast 30 minutes no matter how large your fleet is to destroy this thing, even with low hardpoint health, the time it takes for projectiles to travel will make the game take far too long to be realistic. That's the only downside of having so many weapons, you can't reasonably balance it, not because of the hardpoint strenght, but purely because of the amount of resilience a ship has with 140 hardpoints, even if you make each hardpoint have only 1 health, even if you destroy 3 with an inmense turbolaser barrage/super weapon that should kill the entire vessel, there's still 137 hardpoints left firing, and that is what makes it unrealistic.

Even though I just explained why it's not realistic I'll try again: It's not realistic if you see a lets say a huge vong barrage of flashy lava and rocks and whatever they shoot and it looks amazing and it's closing on the ship and you think AAAAAAAAH ****! now half the ship is gone, Vong for the win! And then it destroyes one laser. That's 1. lame as **** and 2. unrealistic.

As someone who has a mod with large starships with a lot of hardpoints (ORAW) this is a real issue, not just for realism but balancing gameplay aswell. And that's with just 50 weapons, this has 140, you can't even balance that at all with targetable hardpoints at all, trust me when I say I tried some of that ;)

I haven't posted anything in a long while now on moddb, but now that I do let me do some construtiveness. I must agree while it will be impossible to balance a ship with 140 HP's you can most certailny only code lets say the 40 strongest weapons (and therefore largest turrets). This would handle the balancing problems, while making sure that the ship won't kill your fleet in a constant barrage, only because you can't kill it fast enough.
It is also possible to make a unit survive even when all targetable hardpoints have been destroyed. Obviously this is only an idea on top of my previous thing. But the code for it can be found in the file for the zann consortium Palace. What you can do is make only shield generators, Engines and other non-weapon hardpoints targetable, to allow a smaller fleet to engage with superior strategy (its a strategy game after all) while the ship won't die from losing 10 HP's.

It's a late comment, sorry.
BUT imagine that a ship has to be destroyed fully so all weapons stop shooting that would make the ship extremely OP and almost impossible to defeat and if you lower the Health of it it will instead become unrealistic. You don't need a Hardpoint for every single gun, just make Hardpoints for batteries.

Maybe add some way of blasting those hardpoints, like if some hardpoint is destroyed all hardpoints in some reasonable radius (that depends on the type of weapon used to blast it) loose some health?

That would speed up the game and add to the realism...

They said it could not be done, and that we were crazy for trying...

The mission statement for the Vong Project is to push the game to its limits. Geroenimo and myself have spent 1 week creating the mandator together. Geroenimo's expert 3D modeling abilities and my creative art direction collaborated every day, experimenting and trying new techniques at poly reduction and model design. Together, we have created one of the most nightly detailed and largest models to ever be placed inside of the FOC game engine.

The mandator loads with no problems. There is no frame rate loss, no lag , no crashing. The model features shadows, and 140 turrets that all rotate and elevate.

Geroenimo proves himself again as our master imperial shipwright, and demonstrates expert skill in crafting such a beautiful ship. We applaud his craftsmanship and thank him for his tireless efforts working with me on multiple revisions and adjustments.

Video is taken by placing the mandator model in Geroenimo's mod.
