Behold the Yuuzhan Vong Army! This mod adds the Yuuzhan Vong Race as a playable faction and all units of this era. We are a community of modders working for the greater goal, so anyone who wants to help or support us is welcome!
Actually, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from orbiting in the other direction, it's just that stuff that develops naturally will all orbit in the counter clockwise direction.
You spin my head right round, right round :D
Most beautiful work! Very impressive.
Just some questions. Will ships be able to orbit the planet, too? Will there be traffic? Will it be possible to destroy the structures? And how pleasantly will I be surprised?
Due to the poly count of the model, the planet will only serve as a background prop while battles occur at the golan defense perimeter line, some distance away from the planet.
Kuat is a very large world, and the rings are enormous. I imagined every light seen on the ring structures to be an individual hanger for ships. To help with the scale perspective, there will be tri-arm ship docks much larger and at normal size in the foreground. We are hoping that the map can use this nice trick of perspective to show how large the planet actually is.
As much as we would like to do, the game does have its limitations at times, we just try out best to always push the limits.
The rings will not be targetable. But the planet will be able to be destroyed.
Rings are able to rotate in opposite direction not because of gravity but because of repulsir technology, thrust jets and tractor beams. This is not a natural object, this is a manufactured factory complex. The reverse rotation allows for easier transfer of finished goods to different sections of the ring.
So this is a hell of a deco. You guys better make the battles a real eye-catcher, otherwise I´ll allways lose at Kuat because I keep looking at the planet and not at my fleet ;)
Have you considered adding a closer perspective map as well? One that is zoomed in and focused on a specific part of the ring. The map could have the same (or beefed up) planet model but a lot more detailed ring model (only a small part of the ring).
The planet could rotate in different direction than normal so it gives a feeling that all the ships along with the ring are rotating around the planet.
For every two-staged planet, there could be another space-only "planet" which represents planet's higher orbit.
Only higher orbit is connected with other worlds and planet itself is only connected with it's higher orbit.
When you attack or defend a two-staged world, you first attack the higher orbit and only then the planet itself.
I think this system would be very good for important planets like Core worlds, worlds with huge credit income etc. or even every planet because it would bring a feeling of a really important grand battle for a world with multiple layers of defence.
very impressive!
is it possible to put models of not finished ships into the KDY-complex? :)
or is it impossible because if the scale... maybe the ships would be so small that you cant actually see them from the distance... i mean to the comparrison of the huge complex?^^
i initially wanted to have star destroyers and mon cal ships under construction, but due to the poly limits, it was just not reasonable. I was trying to imagine the scale of the ring sections to be on par with the concept photo, each "window\" representing a hanger capable of holding smaller ships such ac corvettes and frigates
I am sure that however Cheesecake designs the space map, it will be very pleasing to the eye. I intend to have a large prop made for the SSD-class shipyard. This, due to its immense size is not a part of the actual ring structure, and is located some distance away from the planet, out near the Golan Ring defense perimeter.
Magnificent.
One layer of the shipyard rotates clockwise
The other rotates counter clockwise
#gravity #YOLO #orbit

yes but this can make one crash w/ the another...
good god imagine if Kuat drive yards went down in flames

It may sound as an obvious question, but will You add docked ships too?

You can maybe make a two-stage battle system.
