Surprised you are including this since it was pretty much a Thrawn exclusive but then...it's not like I don't stretch canon a bit in RotM either ;)

Actually, it was the Missile Boat which was pretty much Thrawn exclusive, not the Starwing/Assault Gunboat. The latter appears quite frequently in the X-Wing games and once in "Mysteries of the Sith". The former was decomissioned before the Battle of Endor.

I'm really thrilled to see this in my opinion underapprechiated craft as part of YVaT. :-)

We are not including the missile boat for that reason, even though we have a good model for it. Maarek Stele was active during the Vong War as a rear guard patrol fleet, but little info was available about this. So, we thought why not give closure to Talon Squadron by assigning them to him and giving all standard Vindicators 1 squadron of Starwings.

Just part of the process of filling in holes to complete the universe

Sounds good to me! I always confuse the missile boats with the XG-1's... They were contemporaries though, yes? I recall something about Thrawn basing the missile boat design off of them?

Each Vindicator will carry a squadron, number per squadron is not determined yet, probably 6, and Talon squadron will be full at 12 maybe

The armor of a Y-wing

The Starwing

A failed at attempt at a superiority fighter that surprisingly preformed better as a bomber, the Alpha XG-1 had a short appearance in the prior years, but those that remained found a nice niche as excellent defensive fighters within the Imperial Remnant. Armed with heavy lasers such as those found on the B-wing's gun pod and the nose of the Y-wing, and a pair of dorsal mounted ion cannons, the Starwing could easily take down shields of fighers and corvettes and punch some nasty holes in armor. Although not as fast or nimble as other fighters, the strong armor and shields proved very well for defending the Imperial Remnant against the swarms of coralskipper fighter craft. The Starwing also featured a robust concussion missile launch system, able to fire 6 light concussion missiles in one salvo while another 6 were being loaded. This made this ship devastating to frigates and light cruisers.
