This is my first mod that I am in the process of starting. I'm not in a hurry to do it because I know it may take a long time, so even it's beta won't be released anytime soon. However, I will try my best to make the mod worth the wait considering that a lot of models are going to be custom made by me. SO, having said all of that, now for the breakdown of my mod: Every mod should have some kind of unique feature set apart from all the other ones. As a result, not only am I making this mod as close to the lore as possible, but also, this is a first for Dawn of War as a whole. Over 80 percent of the units will not be squads since the Custodes are usually individual warriors. However, there are rare occasions where Custodes must fight in groups. Uncommon situations but they take place during the Horus Heresy. The mod will have a unique system of units. The Adeptus Custodes units are very powerful, yet come in small numbers. The aim of this mod is quality over quantity. So welcome to 30K.
A little further rundown of the mod in detail.
To start things off, each Custodes unit will have the equivalency of a hero unit. Which means that they'll have the prowess and durability of a commander. They will still be considered 'Heavy Infantry' but their attack and defense bonuses will stretch out their durability to that degree. A select few Custodes according to the lore have the strength to challenge even a Primarch in combat, in which one has defeated Horus in a sparring contest (Little Kitten). As I mentioned before, one unique feature is that there will be no squad based troops among the Adeptus Custodes. All will be singular, individualized units, yet they can single-handedly take down entire squads on their own. But keep in mind; such elite troops come at a cost. They are extremely durable, but expensive as well. It is stated that a Custodian's durability and prowess compared to a Space Marine is like that of a Space Marine to an Imperial Guardsmen. In short, a Space Marine is worth like a squad or an entire army of Guardsmen, whereas a Custodian is worth a whole squadron or army of Space Marines.
From my blueprints, the Tier I Custodians could easily tackle any other faction's Tier III units, whether its heavy infantry or even vehicles. They are especially a severe threat if they fight in groups. A group of five Custodians could effortlessly stop an entire army of enemy units, more than likely in melee combat. As for their Terminator-like units, they could face other faction's super units toe-to-toe on their own, along with entire enemy armies on their own. As overpowered as it sounds for Dawn of War logic, this next feature brings them close to the lore combat-wise. Their main commander and super unit is of course the Emperor of Mankind. He is their Primary Commander Unit, as well as the Supreme Commander of the entire Imperium. His skills, tactics, strategy, and brilliant mastermind makes him practically an unstoppable warrior. By lore, he is without a doubt overpowered. He is the Primarch of the Primarchs. Therefore, the lore and himself will be tied into this project. As a result, he will be much, much more expensive than your average commander unit ingame. All in all, besides the Sisters of Silence and Astartes reinforcements, the Custodes themselves will have no morale since they are fearless warriors. However, if such a scenario comes to pass to where the Emperor of Mankind falls in battle, there will be a global panic among your owned units (such as that of the Ethereal of the Tau Empire). The Custodes won't have broken morale since there isn't any but there will be combat defense/attack penalties, making them vulnerable to the enemy, especially within ranged-base attacks, along with a small health depletion.
The vehicles of the Adeptus Custodes are vast in variety and will also be included into this project. Keep in mind of the precise timing of this project due to the new content of the Adeptus Custodes from GW and Foregeworld (hence, the Burning of Prospero kit). There's tons of new vehicles introduced and they too will be included into this future mod. Like their troop counterparts, the vehicles of the Adeptus Custodes are rare and very powerful. They are far more venerable, as well as more durable than their inferior Imperial armor counterparts. Further detail will be explained in the next month. Stay tuned!
