The Sons of Baal, The Blood Angels, were the IX Legion of the original Space Marine Legions under their Primarch Sanguinius. They are particularly well known for their bloodthirsty nature in battle.

The gene-seed of the Blood Angels (and its successors) is still capable of producing all nineteen organ implants that facilitate the transformation of a normal man into a Space Marine. It also has the unique quirk of vastly extending the lifespan of the Space Marines of the gene-line, and it is not unknown for a Blood Angel to live more than a millennium. The gene-line, however, is also affected by a dreadful flaw, which makes its brethren susceptible to the Black Rage and the Red Thirst.

The Red Thirst causes warriors to suffer an unusual bloodlust, instilling them with a thirst for the blood of their enemies.The Red Thirst is so overwhelming that the Blood Angels forget their noble heritage and completely lose control over themselves. It is not unheard of that Blood Angels squads abandon advantageous positions to engage the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. More often than not, these assaults turn out to be so devastating that unprepared enemy forces are simply swept away.

When a Space Marine is overcome by the Black Rage he is reborn in a world of anger, hatred, fury and nothing else. As well as Sanguinius’s memories, the Blood Angel is touched with a small portion of his unearthly power, boosting his strength and vitality to superhuman levels.
Rather than face a slow, insane death, Blood Angels will form those who have newly succumbed to the Black Rage into a special unit known as the Death Company. They paint their armour black, daubed with red crosses, signifying the wounds of Sanguinius, and are usually led by the few Chapter officers, notably Chaplains, who are able to communicate orders to these lost warriors. They are then sent out to perform the most dangerous assaults, hoping for a quick and honourable death in combat.

This mod was first announced back on the 11th November 2004 - and it's fair to say that any mod that spans this period of time has hit difficulties and this mod has fallen inactive at least twice, if not more. The old team are gone, but Team Thudmeizer got permission to continue, however our OE assistance had a crippling HDD failure and so there are clear graphical issues (Moriar, Death company, other units missing animations and forcing their utility.)

This Mod has two branching tech trees featuring the Might and Wings of Sanguinius along with the famous Heroes of the 3rd Company and a twist on the familiar SM playstyle - your units are very powerful in melee, but also bezerk so use caution!

Guys, if you want to combine Blood Angels, the ONLY way is the Unification mod.

Now, if you want to combine it with Codex, you MUST have substantial coding/modding skills - this is something that requires some work to do without issues. Even an amateur coder will fail to do it properly.

... We only support/create Race mods, sorry.

This mod looks fantastic but I can't get it to launch with my Codex mod combiner, the game just crashes to desktop. I can get it to load on its own but not with all my other mods.

99% of this issue is just you have a bad numeration in the list of the modules you are loading. Check that all mods are correlatively numerated and DXP and w40k the last ones.

Yes, I did that, I've tried putting the Blood_Angels_SS mod in several places in the list and checked the numeration, it's all correct, game crashes to desktop without being able to load into the main startup menu.

Show the written lines you're running. I assume that you are able to load any other mod or even tried to edit the order. However a typo may spoil everything.

Try the following:
- Do a shortcut to Dow:SS with a -dev in the command line
- Start the game
- In the game manager, load the Blood Angels mod

I assume that it will not load and will take you to the original game with a message of cannot load or something like that.

- Quit the game
- Go to the folder of the installed game.
- Look at the warning.log file. Some line of FATAL ERROR should appear. Tell us.

- If not, look at the logfiles folder that is created and updated when you run the game in -dev mode.
- Look into the folder with the most recent date. Look to the warnings file there.
- Other error messages may appear in the specific folders related to art, ai, sounds... but the crash to desktop it's surely related to an incapability of loading the game.

Loading the mod individually from the game manager works fine, it crashes if I try to load it with other mods.

Here's the text from the Codex module file that's loading everything. This doesn't work, if I remove the Blood Angels mod and renumerate the last mods it does work.

Not individually but start your combined module from the game manager and see if it loads or not. Then the error should appear at the warning.log file

Ran it as the dev, loading the combined module crashes to desktop, no warning.log file exists in my SS directory and the logfiles folder is empty.

It is unexplored territory but I can give a long shot and say that there is a bad interaction with the blood angels and the codex_base content.

Have you weakened them for balancing? I had like a full army and when I fought the imperial guard they were destroyed by just a few squads and a walker? I have this problem with the dark angel mod and the salamanders. Why are they so weak?

Well, all 3 space marine chapters do not divert much from vanilla SMs...
I mean the first tiers are practically very close.

Did you have any Anti-Vehicle weapons? Also, did you equip your squads with long-range weapons. IG tend to have very long-range grenade launchers - and their lasguns get really long-ranged after all the researches.
Same with Tau.

You will have to either get closer, or even encounter them in melee.

By the way, the Dark Angels will soon (I hope within some months) a new version (I am the AE coder of DA). And there are A LOT of new updates there, including some more balancing and flexibility.
