Unreal Tournament Community SDK is an open source engine fork of the Unreal Engine 1.x with a modern development framework for Unreal Tournament. A thousand delays later we hit rock bottom and infinite possibilites at the same time with this community-propelled engine fork for one of the greatest 3D games of all time. We will never forget nor forgive what Epic Games did on the 14th December 2022.
Next release Beta Q1b/24 is on the horizon focussing on a new material/texture system "Nano" and new lighting sub engine "Photon" that is tailored for UTSDK's currently 3 main 3D primitive types (3D pixel primitives, tex3D textures and static meshes).
Photon efficiently calculates lighting using an on-demand approach, meaning that any changed lighting auto-rebuilds itself, so the user doesnt have to worry about any lighting that needs to be rebuild afterwards. Especially static lighting greatly benefits from this. With this release Unreal Engine 1 also gets lit sprites for the very first time.
To round things up "Photon" features in-depth details, diagnostics and widgets like lighting stats for each light or global lighting (as you can see on the screenshot, below the lightbulb icon).
