Unreal Tournament: 2341 aims to bring the classic UT99 weapons back into the fray in higher quality

The current scope is limited to bringing the classic Unreal Tournament 99 weapons to UT2004, completely remastered with new high definition models, particle effects and animations to bring those weapons beyond UT2k4 standards.

Installation:

Copy the files in the same directory names as in your UT2004 folders or watch for the following file extensions.

UKX -> Animations
USX -> StaticMeshes
UAX -> Sounds
U and UCL -> System
UTX -> Textures

Once Installed look for the mutator that replace weapons and the other one who provides instagib mut. Unreal Tournament 2341 weapons is the one that replaces weapons and UT2341 instagib is the one with instagib gameplay

Make sure
you disable small weapons from the main menu before playing.



Things not to request or report:

- Config options for mixing UT2341 and UT2004 content, including but not limited to the weapons, pickups, HUD and movement handling. UT2341's weapons work/are balanced for UT99 movement and this mod is intended to be monolithic.
- "Remove walldodge".
- Compatibility with any other weapon mod.
- Non-standard UT99 content.
- Singleplayer campaign support or support for any other singleplayer-only content (Multiplayer Game of the Year - if you have an internet connection you've no excuse)
- Trivial, gameplay-irrelevant differences between UT99 and UT2341 where not caused by a bug (e.g. how the ShieldMan doesn't turn purple when you pick up a UDamage). UT2341 seeks to emulate UT99 but not down to the very last detail.

Introduction

Azarael here. It's been quite some time, huh?

I was playing this mod recently and noticed a few things that really needed fixing, so here's a small update to deal with some of those, as well as some commentary on some discussion I've seen about this mod online.

Changelog

HUD

Fixed visual damage feedback. The screen flashes when being hit are now the same as in UT99.
Increased the size of the health, shield, adrenaline and ShieldMan HUD elements to be closer to UT99's HUD size.

Players

Added the missing 10% bonus to the player's acceleration.

Bio-Rifle

Fixed incorrect implementation of Bio-Rifle globs. Damage and damage radius calculations were completely wrong (too low).

Shock Rifle

Fixed incorrect Shock Rifle projectile speed.
Fixed Shock Rifle combo radius being too large.

Pulse Gun

Pulse Gun projectiles have larger collision.

Flak Cannon

Added the 10% speed compensation to flak chunks.

Commentary

A few of the lines in the changelog talk about a "10% speed bonus", and I've seen some misunderstanding of why UT2341's speed values deviate from those of UT99.

The reason for this is because UT2004 has a larger scale, by about 10%-12.5%, compared to UT99. Because the majority of maps in UT2004 are built for that scale, I felt that replicating UT99 parameters exactly would make those maps more difficult to traverse and have them feel too large, as well as causing issues if we had to reduce the player's eye height, mesh size, etc, to match UT99.

So, a decision was made earlier on to have players and weapons use at least a 10% bonus to any scale-related parameters, like explosive radius, travel time, move speed, jump height, acceleration, etc, when compared with UT99. It's not a mistake. UT2341 was not intended to be an absolutely perfect emulation of UT99, though getting very close is certainly possible.

Another reason is that I've taken some liberties when it comes to weapons and fire modes that were underpowered in the original game. Those are the Ripper primary, Pulse Gun primary and Bio-Rifle primary. These modes have a higher speed value than the original game to make them more competitive.

The Bio-Rifle was practically useless with the mistake that was made in its implementation, so it should be much more worth using now.

The HUD issues in particular were annoying me enough to make this update. Damage feedback is important, and with tiny health and very limited screen flash feedback, playing BETA2 and keeping track of health was a nightmare.

Hello! I’m sorry, but I’m not sure how to help you with that. However, I found some information about the UT2341 mod that might be helpful. UT2341 is a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 that aims to bring the classic UT99 weapons back into the fray in higher quality. The current scope is limited to bringing the classic Unreal Tournament 99 weapons to UT2004, completely remastered with new high definition models, particle effects and animations to bring those weapons beyond UT2k4 standards1. The mod contains all the weapons of UT99 and the new HUD only available in DM2. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information about customizing the primary shot delay of the Shock Rifle (ASMD) in this mod.

Could someone tell me if the shock rifle's primary fire delay for the secondary fire is the same as the UT99's. Because to me it seems that when using Shot2 and trying to make the combo with Shot1 it takes a long time to be able to shoot, the shot comes out.

This is very well made, thank you ! Shame that the ammo counter screens dosen't work. I imagine it's not easily implemented, but I would prefer them removed than having to look at those "000" ammo dead screens all the time.

Please add the option to enable UT 2004's movement, hit indication, and hud. Also, please fix the weapon fov and black screen classic domination glitch.

This along with UT3 weapons, are my favorite weapon packs.

Ironically this mod seems to be incompatible with Classic Domination gametype (2.09), as every time the player takes damage, the whole screen, except weapon and hud, turns black, making the game unplayable. I does not happen with any other weapon replacements, so it may have something to do with the updated player damage state in the last versión.

I hope it gets fixed someday, but it seems to be too late for that.

Blade_Sword, can you rename every weapon? Because it conflicts with other weapon mutators, for example "Arena Mutator". Name for example "UT2341 Rocket Launcher".

I don't know in what way, because I used to have an UT2004 with a **** ton *** of mods installed and many UT remakes.
