Company of heroes has this great slit trench idea for the british, its basically a minor defencive structure that they can all jump in and use their weapons from.

Mostly so they don't get atomised imidiately from tanks/stuff that isn't squishy and weak. My point is perhaps each faction could get one of these like with the wall, eg normal one and 90* one.
for example it would make the imperial guard, and tau have a bit more fight against tyranids... perhaps raised version like the GW terrain you can buy. along with small connecting bunkers, I think that could be a cool idea...

Who doesn't want the feeling of seeing 36 conscripts and their medic in a trench (or raised platform GW verient) meanwhile unknown countless tyranids crash towards them like a wave? could have upgrades for them as well, like added MG nest,(mounted directly behind/on top) flag for morale, barbed wire (directly infront)

each race could have a verient maybe eldar, Delder/other could have more of a spider pit vietnam style SUPRISE !!!!!!!! hole, as that fits them... not sure about marines/chaos doesnt really suit them I suppose.

Orks could just use a line of rubble XD because mental cases.

best bit... you could mabye use the walls you have? remodel them or extend... anyway just on my mind :)

- Monk

- Raised out the ground style.

set into the ground.

Oh, and maybe have random bodies/weapons etc set into the model to look like its seen action? :D

- Tau bunker/trench verient

Because in real life, human or indeed alien alike... we all run for cover when shot at... being shot at is bloody scary, and being in a trench or bunker/rampart sure makes you feel a lot safer XD no one would willingly stand 10ft away (maybe apart from crazy bastard Space marines/orks ) and shoot at each otehr like in this game.

IG Trenches would be REALLY interesting to see, But how much would they really help, and how would they work?
Would they be a solid structure that people would garrison in?

I think it'd be awesome to see trench pieces sort of like the walls, that don't really block movement, but instead change an area's cover score.

Tbh though, I think that creating a trench system might be more trouble than it's worth for the UA mod team though, Just because they're got quite a few other things on their plate at the moment. I wonder if they'd be willing to implement something like this though if the code was provided to them?

Yeah I figured a mixture of using the existing wall segments, troops placed inside with the point system like barricaded in buildings.... that just gives them an adtional hp/cover score like the indentations in the ground. if tanks could pass over them for example that would be cool. (company of heros did it in a really cool way)

more to the point, compared to titans, or their new wall guns... it's not 'harder' its more about juggling existing assets and ideas, but as far as imperial guard, tau, and just a few others go... trenches/small specifically made bunkers give it that 40K flavour.

Thinking spacemarine or fire warrior (pc games) or images from codex/rule book and other. if they only had to do a few veriations (like2-3) thats cool I don't think orkz would bother making them (on purpose) or use them effectivly lol, same with eldar/tyranids/chaos(to an extent I suppose) / deamons etc

Full garrisonable trenches is something i doubt it would happen since unlike with the IG buildings on which the soldiers are not seen and thus the fire effects are easy to create with the buildings, with open trenches at least 3 or 4 models (and even that would seem little compared to actual squad values) would have to be animated in a way similar to units in eldar raiders (which is not necessarily easy, reason why few such implementations are done) and the models seen firing from the trenches would have to include all the garrisonable soldiers which on some races could mean alot of troop types and bodies with different bone configurations which would prevent from reusing animations for all the possible soldiers on the trench.
Buildable trenches above ground which provide cover bonus would likely be easier to implement but i wonder if in some cases it would be significantly different from things like the IG sandbag abilities to be worth implementing (in terms of gameplay features not visually).

Apparently people don't like me :(
Is it because i was tainted by Chaos? Cause I already born that way...

even if it was a sandbag version of the current'wall' that troops can move into the center and get a buff bonus... something they cant just run over/break apart or goes away in Xamount of time.

Sure, just make it a straight-line variant of the current sandbag emplacement ability that also applies a "rough terrain" bonus... add a few tank traps in for flavor. :D
