I don't know if it would be possible with the engine, but trenches for ig would be a great addition, with some krieg troops! :p Would it be possible? BUT! the ai could be abusing it, making the ig ai not enjoyable to play with or against, so it would suppose to find a way to make it balanced, which could be hard, we all know the famous bunkers Edited by: loulou76100 |

The major issue with trenches is the 3D work, not modeling the trench itself but the fact that infantry units in a trench would be visible. Just like it happens with the DE raider every type of squad that could enter the trenches would need to be modeled and animated as part of the building. Supposing the trench would allow only guardsmen and karskin to enter and 5 visible soldiers in fixed firing positions, you would have to merge 2 infantry models and place them in each of the positions. If everything goes well up to this point, each of the infantry models would have to be animated differently, which supposing the animations between kasrkin and guardsmen were shared would still mean animating 5 guys. If additional models could be visible like sergeants, comissars... the work would raise exponentially. Basically considering how the engine deals with "visible" garrisons it would be extremely difficult to see such a thing. -- Apparently people don't like me |

Isn't this what Infantry Commands are for, apart from training soldiers? That's how I use them, at least; they're cheap, decently durable and give your men something a bit better than flashlights to shoot with until you're ready to upgrade them all with plasma guns, turning them from a joke into a nightmare. |

Thats exactly what all the IG buildings were designed for, but Barracks in particular were designed to even look like bunkers |

Are you going to add trenches and barricades that infantrymen can build to increase the defensive bonus? It would be impressive, because it would give a lot of realism and improve the game. for example, a defensive Tau line with trenches, barricades, walls, etc ... |
