I just downloaded the mod and have really been enjoying it, but there's something that has been bugging me. The scale of the models seems to be off by more than a bit in some cases. I know this might seem trivial, but seeing something like a grey knight paladin lumbering over a tactical marine by nearly twice the size really bothers me.

Is there an addon that properly scales all of the units to a natural height?

Well, this mod kinda does already scale things to proper height, but we have gotten a couple requests similar to this. There could be an addon worth checking out but for 1.73 only. As for UA "vanilla", I'm sorry to say that (most) scales won't change as it is only a slight immersion. Though if there is for example something obviously out of place, we'll get to it. :)

Whoops, terminator scale we could fix in the future...

Actually, I'd really like to see this, as well. Perhaps a general "scale-down" off most units (not buildings, and perhaps not most vehicle) would make the maps seem bigger, allowing more epic fights on-screen at a time? :)

Alas, if I knew how to do the coding, I'd try myself. Oh well, a troll can dream... :D

Daemonhunter doesn't look similar to other LRs in size.

Just want to echo that some scaling seems way off.

Ork Commandos have guns the size of 4 guardsmen... Inquisitor infantry and heroes are smaller than basic SM scouts.. etc..

Doing a scaling pass would really elevate the quality of polish of UA.

Agree with saturn7.

The thing is, Scouts are people who are training to become Space Marines and have began slight body recalibrations. I am not sure if this mean in lore that they are bigger than your average person but I would assume so, they aren't full Space Marines yet granted but you cannot expect to grow a person so much faster and suddenly give them Space Marine powers, they are often taken at childhood or even birth.

So do not quote me on this but the SM Scouts I think are... canon? Ish? It requires more research I think.

Although some things could be out of scale, you chose poor examples. Orks are not quite scaleable with humans since orks never really stop growing. The basic boyz are slightly bigger than a normal human but things like nobs and komandos (which are usually older orks) can be extremely big in comparison to a normal human.

Scouts are also supposed to be bigger than normal humans since they are already partially modified by the SM implants (they grow while they are scouts, they don't magically get taller the moment they become actual marines ;) ). Would depend on how long it is a scout but consider scouts to be the average between normal humans and marines.

Maybe not the best examples... I am not familiar with the lore that much. But correct me if I am wrong, artistic liberties have been taken before with regards to scaling, i.e. the titan units, although for different reasons.

Not a big deal, more of a personal preference. Is this something that's easy to do on my own? :D

The simple yet not always functional way to scale things is using lua rescale:

Moddb.com

Basically it means the engine rescales the model based on the vis_scale_min and vis_scale_max inside the .lua file that usually is available along with whm (the actual models) and whe files which possesses the same name. Relic used this feature to make ork boyz randomly scaled for example (min and max are different so model is scaled randomly between min and max). You can do that kind of edits by looking into how it is made with orks and then copying the lines to other lua files with your own values. Note that lua files can be created for models if none is available (just copy and rename a lua file from a similar model type).
