All except you, dear reader. Dear “fan” of The Nameless Mod.

Being a modder brings with it that unique sort of fame which is like winning the special olympics: You may be a hero among your peers, but at the end of the day, you're still impaired. In our case, it's more of a social than a physical impairment. It is possible, like Trestkon, to break free of this and actually build up a social life from scratch. However, the more acceptance he gains in what is sometimes known as "The Real World®", the more we all ridicule him in an attempt to remind him that no matter how hard he tries, he will always be... a nerd.

Okay, the poking of Trestkon out of the way, I shall proceed to post news. As you may notice, another wallpaper has been uploaded as this week's POTW. At first, you may be confused by the message that Ricemanu has tried to convey through this outlandish imagery, but really, it is quite simple. Allow me to explain with ZeroPresence's words:

"It's saying that TNM is the sole thing that is keeping PDX alive, that Jonas is the hardass evil nazi boss man, and Trestkon is just kinda there with a deer-in-the-headlights look. And that us, the TNM development team, is forced to work by an evil and deadly force... yet it's random."

You may also note that a new item has been added to the menu on the right side of this very page. It is a link to a page of links. All these links carry some sort of relevance to TNM, and we hope you will find some of them useful. We just felt we had to do something to acknowledge our gratitude to certain elements of the community, and linking to them seemed like a good way to do that.

As for the status of the mod, ZeroPresence is still working like mad, Leo's efforts to finish our theme are still progressing hindered only by technical issues with his Mac, and Phasmatis is actually maintaining his current level of activity despite my growing concerns that our mod will get in the way of his earning a living. A major news item is that That Guy has actually increased his output after he obtained a disease called glandular fever; apparently that disease prevents him from studying and working, but not from programming for TNM. Another interesting piece of news is that Kevo-sama has finished relighting the corporate sector, and he's really managed to bring out the intersting geometry of Beeblequix' buildings. Not that Beeblequix is bad at lighting, but Kevo is just better at city lighting, no shame in that. In fact he may even beat ZeroPresence when it comes to lighting cities. But then only on that account.

I've already mentioned ZP twice, but I feel I must mention him again. If you think this post is already verbose enough, you don't have to continue reading, you can just stop here.

Or here, if you prefer.

If you're still reading, you must be more persistant than I expected, and I congratulate you on that. You'll need that persistance though, because this will be a really long paragraph. The quality of our level design in generally quite high. I like to believe that we're graphically on level with the original game most of the time. However, Zero's stuff is just one notch above everything else. I hope I don't offend our other mappers with this, Midashand, Bob, and Kevo are all working very hard on their assigned maps and producing some really great work that I could never have done myself, but I too am doing quite a bit of mapping work for TNM whenever something pops up, and I can tell you that ZP pwnz us all. Zero doesn't just create some amazing architecture which will completely blow you away with its intricate detail and perfect texture and lighting work, but he works quickly, effectively, and CONSTANTLY. Take for example Sol's Bar. ZP was given custody of Sol's some time around Thursday in order to make some slight changes for when the player returns to it in a later mission. Sol's was created by Phasmatis, so it already looked very nice, had a good and efficient layout, and was technically flawless (no BSP errors or inefficient brush work). But ZP just can't help himself, if he sees a map he didn't make himself, he just wants to do better. So even though Phas' map was great, ZP spent a few days improving it further. Now I can tell you that Sol's bar is totally awesome, and you will love it when you first see it. But you'll be completely blown away when you return to it later. And you know what? He's already done.

And now that I have proven just how... verbose I can be, I think it's time to stop writing.
