Alternately titled "The Lord of the Rings: The Last Days"

A visual conversion of The Last Days of the Third Age, bringing the characters, equipment, and world more in line with Peter Jackson's film adaptions, along with some balancing and gameplay tweaks. Much of the audio has been replaced with superior-quality sounds, and some of the music for battles and towns is taken from the movies. The core of TLD will remain intact to maintain a similar gameplay experience, while removing some of the more overpowered features and changing a great deal of text for consistency.

Additionally, I have included InVain's TLD scenepack, which provides much superior scenes, especially sieges. While I am aware that many of these scenes are less film-friendly than the standard TLD scenes, I feel that the improvements they make on the siege battles are great enough that they overcome the downsides. Perhaps one day I will edit them to be more film-accurate.

Note that this mod is heavily WIP and there are almost certainly going to be bugs (which should be reported here on Moddb as soon as you encounter them)! For now, you may enjoy what is already here, as the game is playable in full all the way to the end of the war for either side, with (hopefully) no game-breaking glitches. I would ask that you please request permission from me before using any resources original to this mod. I repeat, NOBODY IS TO USE THE ASSETS EXCLUSIVE TO THIS MOD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

And for anyone complaining that this contradicts Tolkien's books or whatever, I have no intent of using the books whatsoever for reference. My sources include, first and foremost, the movies, then the GamesWorkshop Strategy Battle Game, then any other film-related reference (games, art, etc) and my own ideas. I don't care whatsoever for the books and simply wish to reproduce the look of the movies that I love. This is first and foremost a personal modification, I have simply uploaded it to share with everyone.

Credits to: Blood In The West, Floris Evolved, Gekokujo, The Veiled Stars, and Fred's Bunch-O-Armors for a good number of armors and weapons used in this mod, as well as the basis for my own creations. Third-party credit to the Third Age: Total War mod and its sub-mod, Divide and Conquer, for a bit of concept inspiration. Also would like to extend a big thanks to Jurek over at the Film Armors project for being a good sport and a source of communication and support - please give his mod a look too!

Special thanks to everyone - apparently within 5 hours of uploading this, it is No 1. on Moddb! Really didn't expect this, so again, a massive thank you for all the views!

Good news for everyone who thought the mod might be dead - we're still active! However, I've been so busy recently that little progress has been made, and what little is made is directed more toward bugfixes. Ultimately, I decided it was of best interest to simply release what has been done so far.

Version 0.15 contains bugfixes for 0.1, as well as a number of small changes. Most importantly, however, this release includes completed versions of Gondor's Blackroot Vale and Lamedon factions, Mordor's Black Numenoreans, and a partially completed Harad! There is still a long way to go in the development of Harad, but what you can play in this version is mostly completed, sans a few armors and all weapons. I've also included an early, unbalanced import of Jurek_Darkwolf's Dunedain troops. Their equipment and stats have not been edited heavily yet, so they are likely going to be buggy. However, the Dunedain along with Harad are in my plans for the completed V0.2.

Additionally, players who were having problems with the font and shaders should now be able to play the game due to the shader update included in the currently used Nightly Patch!

So head on over to the download page (once the file has finished uploading, that is) and try it out! Fight as the Men of the South and overcome Gondor, or join the troops of the Fiefdoms and repel the invaders!

Great work :) I hope you are using the latest codebase of TLD, as we have fixed the save game corruption a few months back. Keep up the great work!

How do you change/remove the font on this mod? I'd love to play the mod but I cannot read everything because it's really hard on my eyes and hard to read in general (at least for me). Can you instruct me on how to remove the font? Or change it? I brushed over a few topics and removed the font.dds in the Textures folder and also removed the font data in the "Data" folder. This removed the font but then the font in game was bold, like really bold, so you couldn't even read it.

Hmm, what you did should have worked. Try copy+pasting the font.dds and font data files from the base game into the folder and see if that does it. If not, it might be because of the weird shaders this mod uses, which have caused an endless amount of problems in the past relating to the fonts. It might be unfixable within my power unfortunately.

I *think* you can play it in DX7 with the current version, but I'm not sure. To be safe, I'd stick to DX9.

I've responded to this question several times in the past, go back a few pages and look for the answer.

In short, yes, but with more colours than black and grey.

Have you considered contacting and working with the creator of this mod?(http://www.moddb.com/mods/tld-overhaul)
It seems like you are both separately working on the exact same thing, so maybe if you combined forces, the mod would be done in no time. You're both doing great work, either way keep it up!

Yes, we've discussed it in the past and came to the conclusion that our goals and ideas are different enough to remain separate.

What are the main differences between your mod and TLD overhaul? Because I don't really know which mod should I follow at the moment :D They both seem to be really similar and I have no idea which one I should download.

I can't really say for sure since I haven't played much of the TLD Overhaul. I'd recommend you try both and see which appeals more to your tastes. Overhaul has more of the northern factions completed, while FE contains mostly the southern ones, especially around Gondor.
