Half-Life: The Core is a classic retelling of the events surrounding the Resonance Cascade disaster from a new perspective. Featuring intense action, complex puzzles and believable narrative through all-new locations in Black Mesa with remarkable visual fidelity, pacing and humour.
This is probably the last bit of media you will see from me (Urby) for a while now. A lot of the work ahead of me is not the kind of thing that makes for good screenshots.
What resolution are those textures? because they look nice.
They vary greatly. If we're talking in general, the walls here are 256x256 and the floor is 512x512. Both are scaled down to improve the lighting slightly.
and this does not affect your fps?
I have tested the mod on my own PC, as well as a series of low spec office machines over the years and I've not encountered any significant FPS drops.
Holy merry mother of joseph!
Indeed.
Another failed Gordon Freeman wannabe who didn't read up on his vent crawling before going in.
They all think they're so clever, copying the good Doctor. But they forget that he has the one important thing that they don't!
A goatee!
Lovely work. I could think of nothing that would require any sort of enhancements.
Thanks! I'm afraid I can however. :P
I will always recognize Source engine, I'm an expert, trust me.
... Uhm. Haha. I'll take that as a compliment.
Well it looks flawless :D
You're too kind.
Is it just me or that ceiling light is a bit weird/out of place?
Nice job overall though.
The scene is technically well done as is the case with most of your stuff, but this room makes little sense to me. It seems unlikely to me that a high-tech facility would let a coolant pump unattended like that. I would've at least expected proper shielding over the gears, instead of leaving those crucial moving parts exposed. Adding in a cover model or brush (maybe along with a toolbox) could make it look more believable. Putting the pump on a raised area (like in here: Moddb.com) might give the scene a bit more vertical play.
/e The lights, sign, doors, cabinets and pump make the dude on the floor look really tiny.
High tech? Certainly. Competently run? Hmmm... :/
Good points though. I will take a look. :D
Once again, beautiful work, I love the blue-ish ambient lighting.
@Hardflex, don't forget that these facilities are a Cold War remnant. They have modernized some parts, but it's only natural that some others have been left without any renovation or addition of new safety measures and equipment. We can see this difference between the old and renovated areas quite clearly in the original HL. Not to mention that this particular area might be off limits for non-authorized personnel. But I do agree that placing the pump in a higher area would look better.
Keep going mates :D .
