TAA Alpha Release 0.1!
Apr 5, 2010 Demo 14 commentsAlpha release of The Ancient Age! Version 0.1 is up for you. Check it out. :)
I. Introduction
Since longer time the Modding Project The Ancient Age is already in development. Its objective is to implement 5 antique cultures with the AoE3 Engine and Structure. These are: Carthaginians, Celts, Hellenes, Persians and Romans
II.Team
The Team consists on the one hand of beginners and on the other hand of people with experience in modding. The underlying idea of the team set is to teach beginners one or more aspects of modding with the final aim to integrate them effectively into the project.
The project itself is english. The team works in a closed member area on ne.elpea.net, the Official Napoleonic Era Homepage. Our first release will be an Alpha-Version that contains playable Romans and Hellenes.
III. Features
5 completely new cultures with new units, among others Tactical Units like Spies, Assassins or Officers, new Economic Units like Scholars, Slaves, female and male citizens. Longer ages show the true advantages and disadvantages of cultures and demand from players more strategic and flexible thinking.
We are willed to create a more ambitious 1st and 5th Age. The 'Campaign' feature (similar to 'Revolution') makes it possible to change the usual managment of a town to a more intensive organization of a professional army. A new, more realistic counter-system, new random maps, User Interface und Homecity Design are other features that we'll try to realize as well.

Heya folks!
the mighty polls decided! I will unlock ESO2 in the next version, so you guys can also play on the AoE3 online platform. Don't forget to put an "TAA" in your game titles!
For all the ones who lost their ESO2 account or can't connect to ESO2 for any reason: Stay tuned! You can still play via Hamachi and/or GameRanger. Also check our forum on ne.elpea.net for Hamachi networks or other instructions.
Second announcement: We will most probably also release TAA for MAC. I don't know if each PC version will have a MAC brother version though, since I can't organize them on my own as PC user. The greater versions will surely be available in MAC for sure, I will fight for that! ^^
I don't have any files to upload now, I will release and upload them as soon as I get them.
Concerning the next version: I don't know myself when it'll be there. I plan to give you "finished" Romans, that means a fix basic structure, more HC cards, more unit textures, maybe already a few unit sounds, I'll see how much my team and I are able to provide.
The Hellenes will also experience lots of structural additions, I'm currently having trouble finding an appropriate helmet for Hoplitai (anyone?). A second Hellenic AI will be added too, so you guys can play 2vs2! ^^

will there be a full version?
Lads tell me you are atill making such a great mod... !!
Cheers
last time i was on this mod looking at it. it was still making the romans!
Hey there's a problem with ai the persians they keep attacking with redcoats and culverins wtf i cant stand a chance against the persians ai
lol, that's funny since the Persians have only been begun, they don't even stand on a solid ground. The troubles that you experienced derive from some edited instructions for the Persian AI behaviour.
Could I help with development? And is there any chance you could make a version for vanilla?
The mod is currently not be worked on. However, aledied, the Co-Leader (also here on ModDB), is looking for people who would like to help out and continue the project. I recommend you to contact him. =)
ColonelSkorge101 , Sparta is a region In Hellas (Hellenes) , this version need a looot of work , i removed it from my computer today
Well, do you have an idea what an "Alpha" version is? I don't think so, so let me explain. An alpha comes before a beta, that means its a very rough prototype of something. Now look at that thing again, for a prototype I think it is pretty good.
Currently yes.
