I really should have just gone ahead with this back in v1.5 but the significant change for this update is that ANY new homecity/nation you create from now on will start out on LEVEL 120 with the ability to unlock all (or nearly all) of the shipment cards and visual customization features for the Europeans.
Why have I decided to do this? Well there several reasons I will briefly explain here:
1. There are unfair advantages of players having higher home-cities then others. Europeans get access to more politicians when choosing to age up and the Asians have access to more European alliances at the consulate (for the guy that was confused on why he couldn't access the Ottomans with the Indians, this is why) and the obvious matter of having better cards then your opponent which undermines competition.
2. You get bogged down in levelling up one homecity/nation rather then being able to enjoyably play any nation without the frustration of gradually improving its options.
3. The reason why so many people always praise AOE2 for being much better then AOE3, mainly stem from this levelling up/experience system which has somewhat spoiled the true original AOE game-play so many fans of the franchise loved. I personally think the home-city scheme was an innovative and unique add-on to the game, but I must agree that AOE3 shouldn't oppress players with its dragging experience system.
On the last note with this, I did not modify the campaign homecities to be like this as the campaign itself focuses hard on completing objectives and rewarding you with lots of experience points. I don't see the worth in heavily editing this stuff, it just is the way it is. Also, the custom USA nation has too been modified to be set at level 120.
Lastly, I fixed all the infinite and team shipment cards that lacked player colour.
I recommend that everyone deletes all their previous homecities and create new ones, the maxed USA homecity files with this new version will overwrite the old ones.
Annnd, I have released INSTALLER PACKAGES for the mod!! Now installing it will be much easier for all. There are two packages included due to directory issues, one is the mod itself and the other contains the USA nation and all the bonus custom and day/night cycle maps. Quick instructions can be found on the mod's main page.
Hope everyone will breathe a sigh of relief at this change and will enjoy playing any nation without hesitating that they haven't worked on it enough :D
