(buried)

Not as terrifying as Romulans. But still good. Make sure to play against one.

Description

"The Dominion has endured for more than two thousand years and will continue to endure long after the Federation has crumbled into dust!"
- Weyoun, on the enduring destiny of the Dominion

A vast and powerful authoritarian regime originating in the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion was formed millennia ago by the enigmatic, shape-shifting Founders. Mistrusted and persecuted across the galaxy, the Founders created two unique races to force order on a chaotic galaxy - the Vorta, who act as diplomats, administrators and commanders, and the Jem'Hadar, brutal, efficient soldiers bred for war. Both species revere the Founders as gods, and carry out their will with fanatical devotion across the galaxy.

Absorbing many vassal species into its influence, over the millennia the Dominion has grown to encompass a vast swath of the Gamma Quadrant. For the most part these supplicants are permitted to live in peace. Until they even slightly defy the Dominion's supremacy, in which case swift and brutal reprisal at the hands of the Jem'Hadar is assured. The Dominion rules effectively by terror, for only the foolish have no fear of the Dominion.

With the discovery of the Bajoran Wormhole, it wasn't long before the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants came into contact with the Dominion. Technologically advanced and masters of war and subversion, conflict with the Dominion quickly became inevitable. When the Dominion finally invaded the Alpha Quadrant and established a foothold within the Cardassian Union, the result was the Dominion War - the most devastating war in galactic history, the effects of which would be felt for decades to come.

Combined with the strength of the Cardassian fleet and allied with the mysterious Breen, the Dominion are one of the most formidable forces ever encountered. Imbued with vast numbers and almost limitless resources, the Dominion will bring the galaxy to order. To challenge the will of the Founders is madness.
