Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
The mightiest battleship yet seen in the Dominion fleet, the vessel designated the 'Cychreides' by Starfleet is vast in size and power. Still rarely seen in Dominion formations, the Cychreides dwarfs all other Dominion warships, and carries sufficient firepower to pulverise entire flotillas. Taking its place at the core of Dominion fleets, the Cychreides offers the Dominion yet another deadly tool with which to crush and dominate the enemies of the Founders.
Introduced late in 2374 midway through the Dominion War, the initial Cychreides prototype first underwent extensive testing behind the lines, but even in this experimental state represented a major threat to every Federation starbase, outpost and colony within fifty light-years. The Defiant-class USS Valiant, operating behind the lines, tracked and gathered information on the mighty dreadnought, but was destroyed with ease after a futile attempt to exploit what was wrongly presumed to be a vulnerability in the Cychreides' design. As it turns out, advanced Dominion design has produced an immensely powerful warship without weaknesses.
Armed with bank after bank of the Dominion's powerful polaron-based weaponry and a multitude of torpedo launchers, none can match the Cychreides' firepower. A heavy polaron lance completes the Cychreides' armament, capable of ripping apart anything in its firing line.
Note that Cychreides dreadnoughts are used as the personal flagships of the Founders themselves. Revered as gods by their servants in the Dominion, whenever a Founder is present it is not uncommon for the Cychreides to be escorted by one or even two additional dreadnoughts. The life and safety of a Founder is, without exception, the absolute highest priority for the Dominion. As such, whole fleets will fight like demons and abandon all sense of self preservation and restraint in order to please and protect them.
Ooooh. She's a beast.
Without weaknesses.
Looooool!
Well, no OBVIOUS weaknesses...
Dominion ships are probably the only reason why play the Cardassians... screw their flying utensils.
I feel the same way, +1 from me!
