The Final Frontier is looking better and better with each passing day.

I wonder if this ship will just be a suicide unit or if can be used as a warship purely, either way it is a brilliant addition!

There are still plenty of surprises in The Final Frontier. I'm not going to reveal everything! ;)

You're lying, pirate.

Otherwise you'd already teased more.

If only you could play ping pong with these things. Each time a side damaged it, it changed to that team and went off randomly.

I always hated that the thing had Quantum Torpedoes, yet we didn't see much use of them with the Cardassians otherwise... I wonder what the Dominion thought of them though.

I think they were built before the dominion entered the picture if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, they've been around for a while. Maybe the script writers erred when they said 'quantum torpedoes'? Or maybe the Cardassians really did put their most advanced weapons on the dreadnought? It is a strategic weapon, after all.

Yeah, pretty sure they had quantum torpedoes since a few other races used them. Didn't the Jem'Hadar and Hirogen use them if I'm not mistaken?

I'm not sure what was typically mounted on Hirogen ships. The Dominion, however, use polaron torpedoes - essentially projectile versions of their phased-polaron beams.

Description

A miracle of Cardassian engineering, the ATR-4107 unmanned weapon system, referred to as the Dreadnought missile, blurs the line between missile and warship. While its primary function is indeed that of a missile, the Dreadnought is directed by a sophisticated tactical computer system that allows it to operate independently as well as any warship, and possesses the firepower to match. Heavily shielded and possessing some of the very best Cardassian weaponry, the Dreadnought is capable of doing anything it takes and 'removing' any obstacles in its path in order to reach its target.

The Dreadnought missile is nothing short of a weapon of mass destruction, typically carrying a warhead containing 1,000 kilograms of matter, and 1,000 kilograms of antimatter - a yield great enough to completely obliterate a moon. While no records exist of the Cardassians ever using these weapons against civilian targets, they have been used to eliminate supply and munitions depots and other strategic targets behind enemy lines.

Of note is that the Cardassian Union never stockpiled these weapons, opting instead to construct these devastating weapons only as needed. The sheer cost of production ensured that they were manufactured and deployed sparingly. As such, they are a rare sight indeed.

Also of note is that the complex artificial intelligence system that controls the dreadnought developed a reputation for being somewhat erratic. If damaged by enemy defenders they could go off course, wandering aimlessly in search of new targets. Standing orders among all the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, the Cardassian Union included, are to destroy rogue Dreadnoughts on sight.
