Hello S.T.A.L.K.E.R.,

I want to ask you a question, as a beginner in this mod and game: Which Assault rifles are the best ones and where can I find / buy them?

Well it seems like the (Alternate) series of assault rifles tend to do the most damage, if that's what you're after. I use the AKs-74 (Alternative) when using 5.45x39 (Though the AN-94 does more damage and has better accuracy, I prefer the older AKs-74. Personal preference), the MP5 (Alternative) for 9x19 (That's not an assault rifle though), though the SG 550 (Alternate) seems to be the most powerful 5.56 going aside from the SG 550 (Sniper) variant. Even though the M91/30 has a God awful rate of fire compared to modern semi autos/battle rifles, it's does impressive damage. I'm assuming it's due to the 29-30" barrel. I still take it with me on occasion. With the top of the line 7N14 7.62x54r ammo, or even the 7N1 which doesn't penetrate quite as much, it's still very much an effective firearm as long as you don't miss too much lol Usually 1-2 shots will do the trick with the N14, even against guys in exoskeletons. 7N1 will take a couple more shots, however on lightly armoured targets, it'll make quick work of them.

There isn't one single assault rifle that's better than all the others. You have to decide what traits you want to look for, and peruse the selections. There's A LOT to check out, and every firearm has its strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps you prefer controllability and fire rate. Perhaps you want maximum accuracy and handling. Personally, I go for maximum damage and reliability. More damage means your ammo will last longer as long as you make each shot count. It's hard for someone else to answer this question for you, I think if you give it time, you'll find the ones that call your name. The designs that go along nicely with your personal taste in firearms, the ones with the stats you prefer, and the upgrades that adhere to your preferences.

Over time you'll end up with around 8-12 firearms of different chamberings that you have at 100% condition, upgraded to the max, and you'll skim through these occasionally, deciding on which is suited best to what job, or simply what you're feeling like using on that particular day :) There's also weight to keep into considering. I generally go for heavier firearms because they often have better damage and accuracy, however having lighter firearms means you can stay on you toes. Move from cover to cover, staying away from those annoying grenades. What's your preferred play style? What aspects do you hold in high regard, and which ones are you just 'meh' about?

Right on, same here. You'll definitely want the SKS then. It's probably the most accurate 7.62x39 firearm out there, and definitely one of the more powerful ones however you can find AKMs which are more powerful if you don't mind sacrificing some accuracy for the sake of power and fire rate. You can find it on dead enemies sometimes. The SKS-45 is sold by Beard on occasion, I think for around 25,000RU, give or take 3,000. Can't remember the exact price. AKM assault rifles are often sold by Owl. You can also find it on dead bodies, however whether it'll be in good enough condition to repair is anyone's guess. The Sig 550 (Alternate) is rather rare, but any of the Sig 550s do a good deal of damage. Something else you could do is rechamber an AKs-74 (Alternative) or (Modern) to 5.56. Those are not bad. The L86A2 assault rifles are also quite good 5.56 firearms, however they're a bit on the heavy side. Like I said, there's quite a variety to choose from. Best just check them out as you get them, compare their stats, and see which ones call your name lol
I personally like to make a collection. When I get a new firearm, I bring it to my lock box and store it away. When I come back to base weighted down with loot, I see if I have all the firearms in the box already, and make sure to keep the one in best condition with me. Sell the one with worse condition. That way if you decide to use one of them, it'd be easier to repair them. Having such a selection on hand will also let you compare and contrast the different designs, and help you decide which would be more suited to your place style.

Thank you very much. It helped me...

But I have o new problem: I found the basic, fine and calibration tools for cardan, but when I want to upgrade my sig 550 or other european assault tifles,
cardan says it´s too modern for me or sth like that.... What should I do?

Try AK-74 Cobra. The Optical attachment helps bunch in medium long range gun fight. Even without upgrade it is very accurate and carry decent enough punch. HS is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. I always use single mode on that and it never fails me. (also save ammo)

I have TWO ASSAULT RIFLES in mind.

2ND Best Assault Rifle: "Storm". This weapon you can buy it from nimble. Just make sure you quick save before you accept to purchase his asking price of the weapon. Because instead of the "Storm" nimble can bring in a G36K or an FN 2000, which would COST you money. So quick save just in case. Now the capabilities of this assault rifle.

PROS:

  • It features an integrated grenade launcher.
  • VOG-23 grenades are cheap.
  • High ROF.
  • Adaptable due to its acceptance of different PSU scopes. (I use just the lowest magnification for the "Storm" rifle.)
  • Three Firing Modes. Semi-Auto, Burst and Full Auto.
  • Fires VOG-23 Explosive Grenades.

CONS:

  • High ROF = quicker durability loss.
  • No pin-point accuracy in long ranges. So try to Semi.
  • The ammo that "Storm" uses does MEDIUM damage to both Infantry(AP) and Mutants(FMJ).

Assault Rifle 1#: One of the most powerful assault rifles ever. Strelok's Customized SG 550. This assault rifle can be found after you have found the two hidden stashes set up by the three stalkers by the names of "Strelok", "Ghost" and "Fang". The nearest stash is in the mining crane, get on top of the dead tree and then jump on the roof of the mining crane, once you are on the roof, get down to a room with a gas anomaly and search carefully for a black backpack. The next nearest stash is outside the Cement Factory in which is where a tunnel is (all I can say is....go look "around" the Cement Factory, not "in it"). The last but not least...the outside perimeter of the Jupiter Plant. This one is gonna be one heck of a fight, so I recommend HIT AND RUN, unless you are willing to spend a lot of rubles to kill a few patrols of zombies, Psy-Blocks, Med-kits...well you know... Anyway the location is next to one of the Caterpillar machines. From there you will see a rectangular pit filled with gas anomalies, in the end of that pit you will see a "curved pipe". Once you have that rifle, you hold one of the most powerful ASSAULT RIFLES in STALKER MISERY 2.1 (currently). Well then again...all this hassle wouldn't be worth it if the rifle isn't that good would it.

WARNING: RETRIEVING THE BLOCKED MODULE FROM THE UAV AND UNBLOCKING IT CAN REMOVE THE LOOT FROM THE STRELOK STASHES AND THE RIFLE ITSELF FROM THE GAME!!!!

PROS:

  • High ROF.
  • Adaptable to various SUSAT scopes.
  • Excellent Durability. (Fire in Semi-Auto to last longer, since this rifle does alot of damage along its ammunition)
  • Three firing modes. Semi-Auto, Burst and Full Auto.
  • Very accurate in medium to long ranges (Fire in Semi-Auto for best results).
  • The ammo 5.56 does enhanced fragmentation damage to mutants, 5.56 AP drops Infantry (No, seriously, when you shoot with this rifle along with 5.56 AP, most will die in 1-3 shots, if not then 4-7).
  • M203 Grenades = Higher Explosive Damage and Shrapnel Count than VOG-23 grenades.

CONS:

  • 5.56 and 5.56 AP ammo is somewhat expensive along with the M203 grenades. The higher the damage, the higher the costs.

There you have it. One of the two top ASSAULT RIFLES for me. But OVERALL, Strelok's Customized SG 550 is KING in ASSAULT RIFLES.

I'm gonna go with FN F2000 (camouflaged). It's not for sale until very late game, but mercs can sometimes drop it.

- Cool looking skin
- High fire rate
- Among the highest damage per bullet values among 5.56x45 rifles
- Fully upgraded weighs just under 6 kgs, which is pretty decent considering it has an integrated scope and grenade launcher
- Has an adjustable scope upgrade option which lets you switch the level of zoom with the mouse wheel, very few assault rifles have this (note: you don't need the high contrast upgrade to be able to get the adjustable scope upgrade, and I'd strongly suggest you don't get the high contrast upgrade because it's not that helpful and it stops you from using your suit's NV while aiming through the scope)

If this one happens to drop in early game, keep it and save up for repair, it's worth it (especially if you're an assaulter).

I'd also recommend the FAR-15, even though it's not classified as an assault rifle (recon has high proficiency with it). It has an integrated silencer / dot sight. The look and sound of this weapon is by far my favorite in misery, but unfortunately on my 4 playthroughs so far I've never been able to obtain it before Pripyat where it can be found in the school's basement, under some stairs.

If you play assaulter and are ferely at the start I would first get the modified AK on the top of the Gas Station. It's a very reliable and accurate modified gun which can mount a scope and granade launcher. You wont need to buy or repair another Rifle untill you are at Jupiter, from my opinion. The heavy 7.62 is quite expensive and NPC's dont carry them often but it kills most light armored Stalkers with 1-2 body shots and the same with AP rounds for boss stalkers.

For example in ZATON, circle from Base around the Ranger station along the Pipe untill you reach the bridge. Go below it and you can easily snipe the 3-4 Mercs/Bandits with less then half a clip, which are almost always camped out on the édge of the swamps on the end of the Didge anomaly.

there is also a big stash on the upper part of the concrete ramp next to it, which starts at the waste proccesion plant. the stash is py the concrete pillars "below the road". Carefull is in high radiation.

Also I strongly suggest that as soon as you have your first cash you by a pistol from Nimble, which will get you an awsome .45 handgun, "Alpine" or "March" I had so far. In all the time I played MISERY those handguns are by far the guns I use the most, the Ammo is by latest in Jupiter quite common and is Perfect for hunting Mutants and for Firefights in close quarters. The Hydro rounds have the highest Tissue Damage and a Chimera will drop like the bag of delicous meat it is when you pump 1-2 clips of Hydro rounds into one. It also has good AP but of course there are the DU rounds which cut trough exoskeletons as it were paper..
