Is there any point in buying the sunrise instead of the heavy overcoat?

Going by the numbers in the respective descriptions, the heavy overcoat seems to be better and cheaper. Although the Sunrise obviously has nostalgia value :)

I don't bother with either, really. If I'm playing Sniper or Assaulter more often than not I'll just save up to buy a Berill as soon as possible.

No difference to me at all. I get 1 or 2 shot death in either suit. I don't bother repair them anymore because they will just get damaged so quickly there is no point.

Always trying to save up more money for SEVA or EXO. At least EXO makes look like bad ass and I can survive up to 4 shots.

I like the Heavy Overcoat just because it looks so badass. Trenchcoat + gasmask, stinking of swamp water, cordite and dog fat: that's full Zone chic.

It actually is a major upgrade over the terrible Light Overcoat, but that's not saying much since the Light Overcoat is barely any better than no armour at all, and more useful for cleaning up after a bad case of the Chernobyl Trots than anything else. The Heavy Overcoat will keep off some weaker bullets and generally reduce damage a little, but rifle bullets will still mess you up. It does cut down on injuries, especially from bullets that only wing you since these would still hurt a lot and make you bleed all over the place if you were unarmoured (or wearing the atrocious Light Overcoat, a thousand plagues upon its every thread). It's helpful in combat, but not strong enough to abandon the most cautious fighting methods.

I sometimes wear it as a Recon before I get a SEVA, if you get the weight reduction mod then it's worth it, otherwise it's too heavy. For a Sniper or Assaulter you might as well wear a Berill instead for only a few ten thousand RU more, or get the free light armour from siding with Duty/Freedom.

I found out the SSP eco suit is just as bad as heavy overcoat when it comes to gun fights. Very good protection against radiation and anomolies but that suit will just get damaged so quickly it's not a wise choice for gun fights. I am pretty much stuck with broken heavy coat until I can afford SEVA. No point going for anything in between since they are waste of money.

thanks for the answers - i know they're both rubbish but i was wondering if either the descriptions are wrong, or there's another reason why the sunrise is more expensive

If your only concern is ballistic protection, they are equivalent. The sunrise has much better armor/rupture protection to start, and much better upgrade options, though it also weighs about 50% more.

As a recon I go Light overcoat (standard 3 slots) -> Sunrise suit (max3 slots) -> Freedom Suit (max4 slots). the light overcoat has the advantage of allowing you to have 3 slots to carry more stuff, early on. I never bothered with the Seva suit as it cuts your stamina in half and has a max of 3 slots. The sunrise is better then the heavy overcoat it also has a better upgrade to reduce armor weight and increase your carry weight ability.

Heavy is best maxed out. You grab both weight buffs and combined with a Sphere12 helm, you get a great suit. Mine is around 11kg combined. Add 2 titanium grids and a camelbak to get decent max weight and stamina.

Overall usage gives the player a decent amount of armor and environmental protection depending on how you choose your buff upgrades. You should have some idea when you are going into a fight. So take the anti-blood loss items with you and some food injections as well.

In what way? Going by the stats in the descriptions it's the other way around. Or do you mean after upgrades?

I haven't compared the actual numbers in the item files, but from the descriptions i can't see why the sunrise is more expensive than the heavy overcoat

I meant after all upgrades aye, i never found it hard getting a sunrise suit at all, 40k rubels is easy to get. Though I usually get the light overcoat first cause it has 3 slots without upgrades.
