Hi,
Like many others, I have an issue with the headlamp. I can not equip the headlamp (it just sits in my inventory), and when I press the headlamp button there is a half second flash of light and then nothing. I have a fully charged UPD, and tre headlamp is in fine condition.

Any ideas?

you are so new, detach art detector or flashlight, and place headlamp in that slot, it should vanish, now you have headlamp on your head
, and if you still have flashlight in that slot its not the light key but detector key.... i have my detector on "v" and headlamp on "l"
presing "l" with no headlamp is useles...

Bless your wee hearts. Let's be more specific here: there are several ways of producing light.

The wind up flashlight is the torch that needs to be equipped, like a weapon, to use. You will hold it to shine light and thus can only use side arms and knives whilst using it and you cannot use it in combination with an artifact detector. Unless you change to third person mode and back again...but that's an altogether different glitch ;)

Be warned- there is a fake headlamp that you can buy from random stalkers for 0Ru, it is a vanilla prop and doesn't do anything. Keep for a memento.

The real headlamp needs to be purchased from a trader, it's rather expensive. Once purchased, double click it to permanently strap it to your head. The headlamp icon in your inventory will disappear. You must have enough power in a UPD to work it. The default command is 'L' to turn it on/off. The only way to remove it, is to equip the wind up flashlight in which case the headlamp icon will appear back in your inventory again.
