Good day MDT. I am just sitting here playing Stalker and I had an idea about perks for classes diversity.

As we know the stalker game handling weapons unlike other FPS such as COD. If we can make weapon handling far more diverse between the classes it would be quite interesting.

For example, give recon classes massive hip fire advantage on SMG and pistols. No more pesky camera jerking upwards uncontrollably when using SMG hip fire, and lower recoil when hip fire, plus slightly increased movement speed of sprinting would create some much cooler Recon class. To go further instead of decreased damage when mounting silencer, give damage bonus while silencer is mounted. Such recon class would be far more interesting and challenging.

Give Sniper class much lower recoil on sniper rifles and longer range in scope, increase damage for all sniper rifles but receive serious damage drop off when silencer is mounted. plus hip fire advantage when using shotguns would give sniper some interesting edge in the fights.

Assaulter being already powerful class can receive hip fire advantage when using light machine guns and assault rifles. (Camera does not jerk uncontrollably when hip firing light machine gun) and decrease movement speed when sprinting.

If someone can look into it and add them into future patch it would be seriously cool.

I'd imagine you could do this all just by editing the files. I don't know about mounting silencers increasing damage, though. Misery has always strayed more towards realism, and most silencers (if not all) decrease muzzle velocity.

A lot of AP rounds can over penetrate creating through and through wound which is highly survivable. With silencer's less muzzle velocity the exit would actually be bigger. If only apply to SMGs then we would have these AP pistol rounds causing more damage by avoid over penetration.

But does the engine even bother to calculate over penetration?

No I don't think so. But it would be a valid point for increasing damage for Recon silenced weapon.

Possibly, but it would only really apply to AP ammo, and negate the balance with the other ammo types.

Yes. But this way ppl will feel the real differences between the classes. Players will choice and try different playing styles according to their class advantages.

Right now my sniper and recon behave almost the same way. Assaulter is the only class has real advantage on heavy armor and assault rifles. Diversity in weapon handling will change the class playing style drastically, far more challenging and interesting.

Some ideas here are cool - thanks.

But please note that the principle for classes diversfication was that only stuff which is depended on person's training, skill or physical feats can differ. Everything which is a property of equipment was set to remain the same. So there are no differences like higher damage of x weapon or ammo (except for knife) or higher scope magnitude etc.

The rest of the things mentioned are nice ideas (specially in regard to hip fire).

Cheers!
