Porn-less Misery? Thread - MISERY mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Hey guys, first of all, I just wanna say, loving the mod so far, the upped difficulty is a lot of fun. But I had a question regarding a certain aspect of the game i.e. the pornographic images and magazines throughout the game. Would anyone know a way to remove the nudity from the game? I am aware and capable of removing the porno mags by editing the items_trade.ltx file, but removing stuff like the poster in Yanov station is beyond me. If someone could a. put edited files in the dropbox removing all the nudity from the game (both the poster in Yanov and any other stuff that is in the game, I haven't gotten through much of Jupiter), or b. tell me how to do it, so I can do it for all future Misery updates, that would be awesome.

I don't see how it is really breaking immersion. The fact that the bulletin board duplicates is very annoying. Items like this would be highly valued along with things such as cigarettes. Just look at pictures from prisons or the like. They can be pretty miserable places.

I'm not bothered about it much at all, though if there was an option to leave it out, I probably would.

Yes, you are the only one who thinks so. The real immersion breaker would be the lack of porn in a depressing zone populated only by men.

Yeah they should remove it since the fucking texture itself is about 10 MBs, that explains why the game loads so slow, it because the textures are not compressed, we have 10 MBs of uncomppresed bikini "porn" in all its glory.

...immersion breaking? Locker rooms, mechanic shops, garages. Lots of people around the world hang up calendars or pictures of half (or fully) naked women. The zone is a incredibly bleak place so there would be people trying to brighten it up a little.

IMO it is not. Sure, odd at first but makes sense. You are surrounded by mutants and assholes who want to kill you to get your stuff and you need to try to make your money in order to continue to live ... in a area which tries to continuesly kill you. That puts a whole lot of stress on anybody. As in the loadingscreen journal described: porn is one way for the common Stalker to relieve stress. Another apparent reason is the absolut abesence of women in the Zone and as a man you got your desires, in case you aren't homosexual or bisexual. My two cents regarding immersion.

If it's plain because of personal preference then I can fully understand it because of it taking away the focus but not for immersion reasons.

Idk, just breaks immersion for me. Everything is so dirty, I'm struggling to survive, blah blah blah, oh hey there's porn here. I mean if it doesn't break immersion or makes it more realistic, that's your gig, I'd just rather there be an option to leave it out.

Indeed, I'd understand that somebody would want to remove this stuff for some ideological reason but for immersion? If I was in a place like the zone is for a week with a group of guys I would probably kill for porn in some point.

Well I'm pretty sure somebody can locate the texture and create a decent replacement.

To me, its silly .This game does not need that stuff. The porn mags is one thing, no biggie, but to have a bulletin board in your face when you have to buy stuff, whatever. I just changed the DDS file with PS.

Some Stalker simply can't or won't afford to buy the magazin and they need that stuff to. Everyone profits from it, less shaky trigger fingers.

Speaking as a gay guy, I find the "porny" aspects of the mod pretty damn realistic considering where you are. But to each his own.

To me the mags are okay, but the pic REALLY does not belong. Just seems super out of place, maybe it's the HD texture or the fact that no one in the zone looks like a real person but the model does.. I dunno I just don't like it. I would like to know how to remove the girl on the billboard.

Well i have never seen a woman in the ZONE... So i think "porn" is not that immersion braking... They can´t all turn into gays...(without wanna offense homosexual people... I respect them like everyone else.) Every man has "needs" you know..
And really stop calling this pic porn... Palyboy and MAXIM are not porn too...
